5970 is capable of doing 3D easily, it's just a matter of ATI releasing the drivers to support that. When that might happen, I'm not sure. If you're dead set on 3D, then you have your decision is already made and we can't really sway you out of that. Some games however don't support SLI so you'll only be getting the performance of one them, just some food for thought. Not sure if FF14 does or not; I don't follow that.

I thought the ATI cards are capable of 3monitor setups without the need for a 2nd card... and regardless the 5970 is 2 cards together. The 2 480's will outperform the 5970 by a ton but they are also going to put out about 85-90c each. Also, I didn't think stereoscopic 3D required all 3d monitors.

Gonna be funny when everyone plays for a couple weeks, gets sick of the fatigue crap, and stops playing. Don't think ffxiv currently supports sli, but thats beta.

I hope you have an amazing push / pull system, because one gtx 480 on XIV pushes 90c+... imagine two rubbing up next to each other making babies? I have 2 gtx480's, but I also have a case that has its own air vent you can encompass both cards around w/its own dedicated fan.

my sli wasn't for XIV, but it does support SLI, you can go into the nvidia program script (w/e its called) and write Crysis's SLI settings. But it also has its own settings, they are just misspelled (for w/e reason) so that it doesn't read SLI. in the coding its like "ffxiwgame" or something.

btw - 2 480's wont be enough for running XIV on 2-3 monitors in dual SLI. U will get at best 30-50fps. If you want 3d just go the extra 2000$ and set up a water cooling system and get the evga waterblock 480's lol

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at either Boyiee. With an i7 OC'd, 6GB RAM, good PSU and 2x 480, what exactly will he have a problem with? Sure on a chart of "the best of the best" he'll probably fall out of the top place soon, but it's not like there's anything that won't be able to be maxed out on his system.

This relates to me that he is buying the best things he can right now, including 1500$ in monitors. People that do this are under the impression that their pc's are going to last 5 years without needing to touch a single thing, and these same people need the best of the best right now. So when intels new sockets come out, the GTX 5 series, etc, and his computer isn't running like it did when he first had it built for him, nor is it compatible with the new stuff, he'll probably be rethinking the future proof thing.

People aren't born with PC building and OC skills. I've been reading and researching about both. If I don't find someone willing to build this rig for me I'll end up doing it myself.

Reason I included the whole build, including monitors, keyboard, mouse, and headset is because I wanted some input about them. There could be better parts that I can replace them with. I guess it's my bad for not explaining my OP properly.

Advice: return a monitor, return case (optional) and spend the extra 20$ for the thermaltake nvidia case. Has better airflow, better fans, less all around shiny useless plastic / metal just to make it look cool. It also has better optional ventilation options for 3/4 way sli, where u can literally put in an extra fan and unit to isolate gpu heat and force air out in one path over heating up the entire comp.

U don't need 3 monitors unless u want 3/4 way SLI, u won't be getting good enuff fps w/high settings to get 120 fps even w/one monitor w/2 480s. 2 monitors is always nice in general, but don't get em if it's just for XIV, u won't be happy at ALL w/what u see unless u have an elitist comp that is retarded to shoot for
