Edit: At all the Thorny haters: Yes, he is a shitty person to deal with socially (mostly because he has a short fuse); I don't see why everyone in the world needs to try and prove to him what he already knows. If you haven't figured out after 6/7 years of his playing that he is a complete ass then idkbro; you're also trying to beat him at something he's dedicated a large portion of his life to be extremely good at. You want to beat him at something? Challenge him to basketball, not how to play ffxi, you're rarely going to win. Beyond that, he really isn't so bad. More importantly, did you actually read the thread's progression? I said in this game, since the last two expansions haven't been released yet they are not currently apart of the game. Try harder. Actually I don't need the FFXI part of BG since I quit, but I do like to look at media just to see all the new things that have been released. Hilariously, the last time I was in a pre-Scars Abyssea alliance (a couple of months ago), that exact variety of idiot started shit talking me out of nowhere, and then tried to backpedal afterward.

It was a full-blown PUG alliance, and it was packed with gimps, like Domaru SAMs, Haste-free heavy DDs, and practically every stereotypical failure your mind can conjure. I'm just minding my own business, effortlessly out-damaging the whole collection of pissants (and planning to leave), and suddenly, I'm /checked several times in a row. I make a joking comment about popularity, and the one guy goes off, commenting on how my equipment combination didn't make any sense and that he doesn't know how I could "wear such shit".

Now, I only play once or twice a month (if that), so I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't on casual status. Nonetheless, I was reasonably outfitted. 80MNK with Mirke Wardecors (ACC/ATK), Turban, Hollow, Brutal, Forager's, Black Belt, Aurore Gloves, Rajas, Tassets (ACC/Haste), and Usukane Sune-Ate. Nothing obscenely retarded. I'm also fully merited, I eat Marinara Pizza, and I always get Abyssea buffs. I also have a -PDT/idle set, Chakra set, Footwork set, and so on, so forth. Passable, for certain, and a good example for all the lazy fucks who say people that hardly play can't even accumulate decent equipment.

This fucker didn't understand my body piece, rings, hands, or practically anything I had on, questioning my entire combination and saying my Black Belt was wasted.

I suppose it would have been better if I wore shit like Optical Hat, Warwolf Belt, Spike Necklace, and other pieces of garbage that the rest of the alliance was full-time sporting.

In retaliation, I publicly mocked them for a while, then detailed in /p why Haste and ACC were important (since most of the other cunts in the alliance didn't understand either).

In response, the guy who originally stirred shit up starts sending me /tells about how they were just messing around. I don't buy the bullshit, but I pretend to, asking them what led them to their equipment choices, while sweetly and innocently questioning their selecting certain terrible pieces over others. Their replies consisted of "idk" and "lol".

Evidently, retardation is the norm, competence is unacceptable, and excellence is a sin.
