I detest farming time. If I'm doing something lowman, or to help out a friend, I'd rather eat into my supply of stones than waste another second of my life farming time.

If you're spending an hour+ in Abyssea, farming TEs makes sense. If you're in for 2 NM pops while someone is on lunchbreak, it's less practical, so stone usage occurs.

You could argue that to a certain extent, you're being less efficient with stones if you farm time so excessively that you stock stones beyond necessity or practical usage. The benefit of saving stones is so that you can use them. If we take this to an extremes, never using a stone equates to "infinite" amount of stones. Normally, this would equate to "infinite" benefit, but since you're never using stones, you never gain the utility of saving stones. At the same time, you incur the costs of farming time (Time spend building lights + massive killing is time not spent killing NMs). In short, you feel the detriments of farming time without receiving the benefits of saving time when you take it to an extreme. The consequences of this begin to dilute as you reach an equilibrium, but you can see that at some point, there is a positive return from using stones instead of farming time.

I think it's more random fail that you've spent this much time in Abyssea while trying to be all tough guy here and probably don't even have 3 +2 pieces. I could be wrong though.
