Goods and services? Do you charge someone when you give them something you have no need for/will toss?
A little kindness goes a long way. I know you like acting like a tough business tycoon on a video game, but the morale less attitude is so tired. If you are gonna end up tossing it, why must you charge someone... Are you that low on gil?
Inb4 moralfags etc. I just hope people aren't like this in RL.
Ready for the twist ending? I've never sold a seal.
I wasn't talking specifically to you, was in general and aimed at the person who posted that ss.
You seem to think you are special.
Don't mind snick. Id be pissy too if my town didnt have a hockey team.![]()
10-3 and tied for first in the league. Think we doing alright. How the Jets doin....oh wait.
I got a response so idc.
Have you heard of ebay? Are you aware people sell stuff there they no longer have a need for? The thing is, it has a value, and they can use more money...so in the end, it works out for everyone. As a side note, thrift stores.
I realize this is a game - but for all your attempts to say people should be nice and give it away, if someone gives you a seal for free, you should be nice and give them the value of it in return (100k). So really, selling it is just ensuring courtesy.![]()
There are lots of ways to give people things you don't need. I've personalli donated to places like the Salvation Army and the Red Cross. I've volunteered at Soup Kitchens plenty of times. And I've done my share of donating to and even going on Midnight Runs. (And there's tons of more ways to give away things you don't need to people who can use them.)
That said, it's not surprising that I like to give out unneeded seals or AF3 feet or even rare items to other people. But I never expect others to do the same for me. I think it's wrong to expect people to be giving, or go so far as to call them a bad person or other harsh words for not wanting to give out their unwanted items. I've known many great people who show their philanthropy in many obscure and interesting ways. (I happen to know in particular that Failure has given a lot to many people, and I would instinctively consider him a nice person from what I've heard!)
Expecting people to allow you to benefit from their efforts, regardless of whether or not they have anything to gain from their spoils, is rude in and of itself. Now, that's not to say that there's an issue with being generous in such situations, but its hardly something that should be expected. There will never come a day when everyone is ready to put forth the same effort and charitably as the person next to them(which, if ignored, will only lead to heavy manipulation and a dramatically greater evil than consumerism), and pretending that isn't the case is nothing short of naive. Failing to acknowledge that the exchange of assets is a staple of a functional human society is extraordinarily ignorant.
tl;dr- Don't buy it if you don't want to, but don't fucking bitch about it as if it were hazardous to the community.
I always /shout when I get something nobody's after, if someone wants it they're welcome to it for free, if not it gets trashed, who cares?
I don't expect others to do the same, but I don't really care, if I want something I'll put forth the effort to get it.
