Stats wise, they both come pretty close, but if you take the price into account, how easy it is to make one compared to the other, and the longer range/splash dmg of archon, they will often destroy ultralisk. It's much easier to get splash dmg on ultra than it is to cleave the archon.

Splash dmg doesn't do the full dmg on ground does it? i'm not sure, i thought it is lowered a bit. could be wrong though, you don't fight archons much.
