I'm entirely uninterested in the vast majority of this topic. However, I would like to contribute to the Rolanmart vs. Othermart discussion. I bazaar for my daily bread, so this is a topic I've given considerable attention to.

On Lakshmi, about 70% of the bazaars are in Rolanmart while 30% are in Lower Jeuno. I've concluded that it's better to Bazaar in Rolanmart.

When people go to buy something, they take a variety of approaches:
1) Some (the vast minority) have the gil and want the item, they just buy it in the first place they see it.
2) Most have gil, but want the item for as little gil as possible but are unsure of the market value (especially JPs). They're going to check damned near every bazaar and buy it in whatever one it's cheapest in. In the event that two have it for the same price, they'll buy it in the most convenient one.
3) Cross-server or JP relic upgraders, they camp Rolanmart and Lower Jeuno. Most buy as many currency as they can for however much gil their most recent windfall was until they run out. The key is to be at the upper end of their buying spectrum and to get all your stuff sold for the highest price possible before they run out of gil.

* Group 1 potentially buys from Lower Jeuno, because it's more accessible than Rolanberry and they will see it first. However, bazaars don't always load in Lower, especially if you're a rich asshat in a rush to get whatever item running to Rolanberry.
* Group 2 will check every bazaar in Lower Jeuno and Rolanberry before deciding where to buy. In the event of competitive prices, they'll buy from whatever zone they're standing in, which is most likely Rolanberry if they went Ru'lude or Port -> Lower -> Rolanberry like most people do.
* Currency buyers are fairly random, but thorough. As long as you have competitive prices and stay in a known "Bazaaring zone", they'll find you. JPs are nervous about checking people's bazaars, so there are certain designated areas where it's a socially acceptable practice. One such area is Rolanmart, I don't know if Lower Jeuno is acceptable for them now too.

The JP stigma against checking each other is really what make resale such a successful business in FFXI. They don't know what items are worth, so they'll overpay no problem. They also don't know what to sell them for, so they undersell no problem.
