some people living outside the US would buy FFXI from a site like amazon that ships globally, in order to play it before the game is actually released in their region. SE is verifying all NA based accts, and if you are playing an NA version and your address is outside of the US zone, you will have access to your acct locked.

If this stops RMT by even a small margin then by all means let it fucking happen. The tells didn't used to be so bad, I'd be surprised now if I go 10-20 minutes without one.

Actually, if you kept up with FFXIV news, this isn't just NA, but EU, JP, AND NA.

So while this fucks any chinese RMT/PL shops(though I'm sure they'll find a workaround), it also fucks any NA or EU players who imported the JP version early, and any EU players who imported the NA version early.
