What about logging into your FFXI details inside POL etc? Like can you still access your info/update card stuff inside US POL client even though you've changed to Euro SE account now? I assume/hope nothing like that is affected also. Credit cards expire and need changing, plus we've still got at least 1 more expansion to buy!

As far as I understand this, it does not change you POL client at all. All this update does is bypass the region check on your POL account so that it remains linked after the switch. This simply means that nothing on POL should be affected but you can link an EU copy of FFXIV and get the benefits of playing both.

The change only affect future things, like ff14. Everything else is the same, including token and your ff11 region. Dunno how it will affect add on purchases though.

Most likely it won't as the add-ons are purchased on POL and you'd still have the NA POL version as well as NA POL account.

Few questions, cause I'm kinda dumb...

I live in the U.K, play in the U.K, USA version of the game, payments are done through a US payment - Will my account be 'locked' or whatever, will I have to change region?

Will this mean that people outside the region you register with won't be able to log on your character?

I tried contacting SE about it through the live chat method and still couldn't give me a definite answer on that. The way the representative made it sound was that the accounts would be useless. She seemed like a idiot to me though that couldn't even type in English and went out of her way to not give an answer that would help. Maybe someone else might have better luck.

Thank you for your patience. If you have a North American PlayOnline and Square Enix accounts, you may want to keep your region North American. However, you have thje option of changing your region to European, just make sure you mark both accounts as European. Also, if you do choose a region outside of North American, your services should not stop I believe. However, this information is still new to us here at the SQUARE ENIX Support Center. I wonder if this would go through, would I be paying 7 dollars then for my FFXI and 13 euro for my FF14? I already got a dummy account on my EU SE ID to get the shoes, but if I can save a few bucks on my real FFXI account too, why not? =D

Reading the Perks announcement again I see no mention of FFXI having to be the same region as your FF14, just that it has to be on the same SE ID, so this should work?

I have been billed after changing SE-ID thing to European region (playing NA version of the game, living in Poland). So far I was able to log in and play, nothing changed for me.

However, I just recently changed my location/region from US to EU - My FFXI account still works; but according to the sentence above it should (will?) stop working. I'm thinking that might be the next time it trys to bill me. So it seems like the agent quoted above is giving conflicting information.

The worst part is verifying an account with my name and my friends address as I'm in the UK and not the US, so if this goes tits-up, I'm fucked.

No, you're fine, I've been billed in dollars and account still works and all. Really they were just covering their ass I guess.

on another note, got this back from SE through Email about Playonline.

"At the present time the Support Center is unable to change a customer's region or country of residence. We are looking into way to make this possible in the future and will notify our customers if and when this feature becomes available."

So may at last be able to change US accounts into EU eventually.
