Everyone should have known this was going to happen - if you didn't then, lol.

ffxiv-status.com shows all servers as down, even version check is giving me an error, and I have all the patches transferred over from my utorrent folder (I'm still seeding for all you assholes ^^)
Maybe because there is a maintenance going on![]()
then its all about luck. Like I said, I strolled in from work. Clicked apply, signed up and played.
I know you're not hating, you of all people have been accused of SE cheerleading when you're being gasp! level-headed. I suppose I'm just trying to get my spirits up about everything as well. The no arrow keys for camera control makes me RAGE, like FITE ME style, but that's just a question of time. I think they should push things back, and iron out issues; a lot more people would rather wait and have things working right instead of zomg launch date.
What has been repeated that I try to bare in mind is that this beta that some people magically got into (list your names so I can ban you, fuckers) is not the newest, shiniest version.
maintenance + final fantasy mmorpg? wtf is that? get used to it cause it's gonna happen a lot. In the end I would much rather play a mmorpg I pay for that is attended to than something like broke dick Socom with no monthly fee that gets fixed when they wake up from their hangover and call last nights whore a cab.
I already explained "Why would you want people to give you feedback then say thank you now gtfo". Don't want to believe me? Fine. Go read a text or two on software testing and come back when you have an informed opinion. The only bullshit here is coming from you; you seem unwilling to believe me when I tell you that basic testing theory sez get fresh people as much as possible, so I can only suggest you go read the theory for yourself. It is not hard to comprehend, and there are years of experience in the field supporting the theories.
The fact that SE totally messed with your heads by changing their minds, and the fact that they seem to be relying on parsing automated feedback instead of manual reports for most of the open beta, are seperate matters from "I'm an experienced expert tester who leaves feedback and they should have kept me." You have every right to feel butthurt over the first, ypu can make arguments for the second, but the last one is just QQ. Fresh testers outweigh old testers by a large factor. I've spent years listening to freshmen argue this, and all I can say is RTFM.
It's driving me mad that I have had Alpha & Closed Beta and I can't even log in to order an open beta key, and when I finally do it says registrations are suspended...
That is exactly my hope. My thought is that we are at least 2 versions behind, and they have an idea of where they need to go, and are just using the beta to confirm those thoughts and get new ones.
Believe me, I am still hoping.
My real problem is more personal... I am really enjoying FFXI right now, it is in the best state it has ever been. I haven't been this excited about FFXI since I was a wee little noobikins. After a year of complete disappointment, this total turnaround in FFXI is making me question if I even want to play FFXIV right now. Not all my friends have comps that can run FFXIV, and it just isn't compelling enough to play without them. That is why I am frustrated. FFXIV needs to be good enough to justify my friends buying new computers to play it. If it isn't, and if FFXI is more compelling than it has ever been, then I have no reason to play a very pretty but still badly flawed game...
And that is killing me. :/
Seems some people still can't get keys? Maybe try what my friend just did. This is email from him....
"Well I tried to get code on japanese site instead of english and it works......."
Try the JP site for a code.
Definitely, but it's a case of revenue vs. smoother launch. They'd lose months worth of subscriptions on top of giving players more free playtime. It's not an easy decision, but I'm sure at least the developers would agree with us. Too bad they don't have a say in this.
It's not (never is), but it is OPEN beta, therefore pretty damn close to the final build. What has been repeated that I try to bare in mind is that this beta that some people magically got into (list your names so I can ban you, fuckers) is not the newest, shiniest version.
There are some features that have not been touched on in ages though (iirc) like retainers and marketplace so I assume we might see some larger improvements on those areas in shorter timespan.
Obviously they would use the closest version to the retail build as possible in their open beta, since it's all marketing from this point anyway. That is exactly my hope. My thought is that we are at least 2 versions behind, and they have an idea of where they need to go, and are just using the beta to confirm those thoughts and get new ones.
Believe me, I am still hoping.
@Gibgezr hey man all I said was your theory was full of shit. I didn't say you were an idiot lol. Go have some cereal and enjoy your Thursday and Labor Day weekend.
This is not boding well for me when I get back home from work & collecting the missus, that i'll beable to have it pacted and running anytime tonight ?
Might leaveit patching overnight while I'm sleeping and look to see if it's more stable tomorrow, I guess.
Bah![]()
