Regarding the Announcement and Download of Client Software

Currently, we are experiencing an issue where FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Site may become unavailable due to congestion caused by heavy server traffic.
Considering the matter, announcements on FINAL FANTASY XIV will also be posted on Square Enix Support Center.

Edit: assuming you're after the na beta. If you want one of the others you can find it from there though, I think.

Just click the apply for the open beta test at the bottom, whenever its working. You'll fill in a quick form or two, accept a bunch of terms, and they'll e-mail you the code (happened instantly for me and most people, some had a bit of lag I think), and then you put it in that spot you linked to under the ff14 service (again, whenever you're able to).

Edit 2: Oooh. The SE test server just came online too. That's got to be.... good... news?

A bit of lag, eh? I got my "confirmation" screen at about 11:00 PM EST last night, and still haven't gotten my email sent.

Trouble is, I've heard that when you try to go through the motions again, it tells you that you've already registered, but doesn't reset the protocol to send the email, so thanks to that lag, it looks like my password application, while "confirmed", got lost in the paperwork somewhere.

I got my email instantly. I would try with a new account if you don't get an email by the time keys are getting passed out again.

I'd try if I were you. My e-mail was "lost in space" at first too, since after I finally logged onto the site it told me the e-mail was send. I checked my box and it was empty, so I hit resend. Servers were terribad then though and it just kicked me back to login screen. I logged back after sometime and hit resend, it came through this time and I had my e-mail second after.

What do you mean "a new account". You mean apply for a brand new beta, just so I can "attempt" to play for all of 20 days?

Clarify, please. I want to get in just to reserve my name, but if the process entails making an entirely new account to do so, no thanks.

If you just mean "spam it on your current account until it glitches into resending your code", then I'll do that once all this initial bullshit blows over.

@Yoli: I wasn't going to even bother with it until this shitstorm blew over, but I didn't/don't know how many open beta "slots" they're going to offer. Sure they could say that there is an infinite amount, but there's no way that anyone who wants to play can simply register and play at this point. The servers can't even support 900 people without exploding. I wanted to, at the very least, get my confirmation password, then choose to play whenever the initial hype died down.

I accidentally hit a link going back to that site. Where the ToS would normally show up you get a screen that says you're already registered, but there was a link to resend the e-mail.

@Gokulo: Works fine? What's with the constant maitenence then? Server queues? Even if the lake at the end of the stream is wide, if that stream is narrow, the shit can't handle it.

i keep getting timed out each time i try to connect to the client now. I played early this morning for about an hour, now timed out every single time.. so far beta is a giant FAIL.
