Use this thread to talk about Open Beta keys. Use other threads for other shit. I asked nicely, but I am pissy about my lack of a key and I'll start shitcanning if people still can't read.

Whatever happened to the good old open betas? Like Ragnarok Online. A key was a key. It too you 5 seconds to get. 5 seconds to log in. No queue bullshit. Nothing. Sure, the servers had 20,000+ people online at a time, and they crashed every 10-30 minutes due to being overwhelmed, but they were up within 1 minute, and you were back on playing within 2.

Oh, the good old days...

Seriously, give us our fucking keys, and just let us sit in line for 5 hours to log in if you must, at least we know we'll get in EVENTUALLY. Instead of this 'left click, backspace, repeat' bullshit.

I didn't get my key from that link, phantom, but if you are going to use it, you can bookmark the link and just click the bookmark over and over.. its a lot easier than the backspace method lol

If you want to switch things up a little you can 'backspace' + 'enter' repeat bullshit as well ... it works for me ... I still get server error after server error after ....

And I did bookmark the key login page actually, but i'm not lazy enough to use it right now.

It's funny, I was talking with a friend last night, saying I was going to get up at 3am and try getting a key, but I didn't. Read when I got up saying around 3am PDT they were handing them out like candy. FML moment right there.

Yeah, I'm in the same FML boat for my choice of times to spam the sign up. Sat around refreshing my e-mail for the first hour since I was in CB3 and read the "need not apply" and believed it. Keys were suspended right around the time I found out we were being lied to and started trying to sign up. Spammed the sign up until 0:03 PDT, then gave up and slept until 05:20 PDT only to find out the keys were being given out about 30 minutes after I had gone to bed and were already suspended again. So I've been doing the bookmarked log-in method for the passed 8 hours without any luck.

It would be nice if they could give us some information. Like maybe "At the top of the hour, each hour, we will temporarily allow additional open beta keys to be issued. If you do not currently have a beta key and would like one then check back at that time."

Right now it just seems that the people who have time/desire to just sit there for hours retrying have the advantage and the people who try to hit and miss are just screwed.

I wonder how many days it will take for me to finally get my key.

I don't know if they've given any new ones out since early this morning. I'm guessing they're waiting to make sure the servers are nice and stable before piling on more people. A time frame guestimate would be nice though, agreed

I surely hope they change to better servers at launch. Although, I don't see a point of a stress-testing open beta if they're not using the servers that they'll use at retail. But knowing them, they won't spend a dime on better servers until they're getting paid for the game.

Keep in mind it's the FF_XIV_EN (read: English) feed. There's probably a different feed for JP.
