Well, everyone I've seen that had problems with the client crashing had the problem resolved by (insert magic driver version number found through pure trial-and-error here). I remember when I put FFXI and Windower on my new laptop, I had to try literally over a dozen different drivers due to an issue with my card on Win7. Regardless though, I wish you luck. Hopefully you don't need quite so many attempts.... XD

I posted in the tech forums my error. The game isn't crashing.. it just won't update. I looked at my router's settings and everything looks good... anyone able to send me the torrent trackers over MSN or something?

So, assssssuuuuuming you updated your client, you were in a previous beta phase, you set your account country, and they fixed all their bugs... All we do is refresh that URL to see if you can retrieve a new code...?

Just wish it was faster still, 40kb/s is the most I can maintain for a couple min before it drops down to 1/2kb/s on SE's shitty tracker. ;/

The maintenance was not part of the "critical bug." Last I checked atleast.

Last you check, hmm since when do you know whats causing the problem

Eveyone is assuming its something game related it could be something to do with the SE account system.

rightclick the torrent in the list, select properties and tick the 'Enable DHT' box at the bottom, if it's not already. that helped me, big time.

Don't forget Peer Exchange. Without at least one of those two, you won't download at all.

wow my mac can't get the update either... I forwarded ports 50000-65000 too... no go... man... not sure what else to try at this point.



My Mac does connect to MSN messanger though...

I never said what was causing the problem. I don't know that of course. But the maintenance I was speaking of was announced prior to the critical bugs and has since passed. If you had tried to log in earlier, you would be greeted with a Maintenance screen. That is no longer the case.

DHT did jack shit for me, so I turned it off to go easier on my router. Peer Discovery/Exchange is always on though as that helps immensely, especially when the tracker is lagging.

I'm just waiting to connect to that one peer that has a stupidly fast connection to get me through most of this update. Was what got me through the 3.4gb beta patch download, some German dude that gave me full speed for two hours straight.

Yea theres always that one guy that adds 100-300kb/s.

I have the same slow ass torrent problem too. My "average" speed is listed as 80 kb/s, but thats really an hour at 300+kbps, and like 15 hours at 20 kb/s. Could we be victims of traffic shaping? Or is there a setting to unlock the power?

only way around traffic shaping is to (following is for utorrent, other clients have different encryption choices) enable forced encryption and disallow incoming legacy connections.

when I click person at 100% and goto add peer it asks me to enter IPort do I enter my IP?

ok FINALLY fixed not being able to connect to SE's servers. I reset my winsock. I am now using uTorrent to save the files. My new question is what do I do with the uTorrent files? just paste them into FFXIV beta folder?
