Well, it's not undectable, but gms don't actively check such things unless it's brought to their attention /nitpick

Always use apradar to make sure no one is in range, and it's perfectly safe. If someone IS is range, invisible can be used so they can't see you (NEVER speed/pos hack without invis, since you never know when someone will come in range of you), though there is some risk, since they may be using apradar themselves, or true sight, or might just happen to tab onto you. Not to mention they also have to care enough to call a gm, so really the risk is incredibly small, but as long as you're always careful, there's really not much risk.

I've used things like that for various things somewhat regularly for 3-4 years now, without getting caught myself.

Nope, of course not. I mean, have you ever tried to get to big bomb without cheating? It's not possible. And lamian fang key? Fuck that 2 minute detour.

Is that physical attack thing correct? I was under the impression physical accuracy were pointless due to skill over cap giving you more than enough, but attack was much harder to raise...

The part about accuracy is correct. But iirc because of the way avatar damage is calculated the +10 attack from merits is about nothing. Wanna say it was Kegsay who figured it out, as he's figured out other smn math stuffs.

Edit: To be fair though, unless your hurting for Magic Accuracy (I doubt, Merit BP's are pretty accurate) Physical attack is the only other worthwhile thing to spend merits on.

Aye, pretty sound advice. Avatar attack+ is incredibly meh, mainly due to avatars pretty awesomely high attack rating to begin with. My LJ has some pdif info and testing etc, but the short story is that Attack+ will have no appreciable difference. 'Enhances Avatar Attack' is another beast though and was not fully tested and my procrastination skills are high at the moment, but from what I've seen, 'Enhances Avatar Attack' is most definitely worth it in the long run.

Seems that way, yes. After all, if your Predator Claws are whiffing, most people now go 'okay, I'll use merit BPs', rather than "NEEDS MOAR ACC+!". MATK/MACC merits are probably the 'safe' bet to go for, especially since merit BPs can be awesome if done properly. As for Group 2 merits, most people either do max in 2 pacts or 1 in all then take one to max.

From what I've seen from SEs auto-bahn setup, a tool which allows you to walk through say Garlaige Doors will be most likely be fine to use. Detectable of course, but highly unlikely (they have setups for flee hacks though).

As for ApRadar, people need to be really careful when using that. I don't think people are fully aware just how it gets the information, and how blatantly obvious it is to identify server side. A useful tool for sure, but I for one won't use it because I know it only takes a simple (automated) check before you can be caught; and whilst SE has not done anything yet, it only takes a moment (hi salvage bans).

Elaborate? I've always been under the impression that apradar was pretty safe to use.

When you walk around a zone, only monsters within viewing range (50") are 'loaded' on your screen. The client sends a 0x16 PCNPCRequest packet (as it was called back in the Project XI days) which requests a PC or NPC based on a given Target ID. The target ID can be found for each monster in the monster list .dats for each zone. This is how the game normally works.

What ApRadar does is it requests all target IDs for a given zone, even those out of range of your character, giving you a 'widescan' like effect. There are no checks server side to see if you are actually in range of this monster, or even if the monster is alive; the server blindly replies with a location. Some HNMLSes use trimmed down versions which only request the ID of certain HNMs e.g. Dark Ixion but it uses the same method (but only sends packets for HNMs).

In other words, ApRadar gets the location of monsters by sending requests to the server, which is extremely dangerous since it can be very easily found by SE. Windower plugins however like TParty read active memory (RAM on your computer) which is a lot safer since you aren't altering anything, merely reading memory on your own computer. Writing to memory for things like gamma adjustments/spellcast/etc are also fairly safe, since SE doesn't/can't in some cases read your process memory for any changes you've made.

The problem is that it only really takes a simple distance check between PC and Target to find out "hey you shouldn't be able to do that, BANT." server-side to screw you over.

To put it in more perspective, it's easier to find out you're using ApRadar than it is to find out you're using a claim bot.

I thought apradar (v2) only showed you what is in your own visual range?

It does. As far as v2 goes, he's completely wrong. No idea about v3, since it sucks and i've never used it for more than 5 minutes.

If it can find mobs from >50' away (i've never really used it, so not sure), then it's "technically" detectable, and although they COULD detect it, they don't, so it's safe.
