Any new quest that involves philosopher's stone? Saw the things went from 5-6k prepatch to a whopping 50k now.

Not sure if you got an answer for this, but I use XBOX360 controller on PC (has to be wired version, I believe). You need to replace the Microsoft drivers with XBCD drivers which turns the anologue triggers into digital triggers. The drivers work fine on Windows versions before Windows 7, but are a bit more of a pain to install on Windows 7 because they are not signed, so you have to put Windows 7 into test mode. Anyway, take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XBCD for more info and where to download. They work perfectly on PC for FFXI when set up properly.

There's a 150 delay 32dmg dagger with +12 acc and Haste+1%, if you want to crunch the numbers on whether it's a good trade off to lose the base dmg for a higher haste/lower delay combo.

How do you calculate DMG versus Attack...

A Magian Weapon with DMG40 Attack +5 versus a weapon with DMG45 for example. I understand 1-hand is 2 STR = 1 attack, but not sure how DMG fits in exactly (or maybe I'm just being dumb)

Somewhat of a simplification- When fSTR is neutral and your attack is equal to a monster's defense (pDIF=1 after level correction), your average damage will be about equal to the weapon's DMG rating.
