Well, I didn't realize we got an extra 1 skill/level. I was 8 skill from cap then. 16 skill from merits. I noticed the slowdown right around when I hit 320 native skill.

Was in Abyssea - Tahrongi levelling THF the other day and my skills were flying up (was pulling and got Evasion skillups every other mob and when I engaged I'd get Dagger skillups probably every 4 or so fights).
Any of the new bard instruments been located?
Where do i find rdm head/feet seals?
It's because people were preparing for the leveling binge of the new expansion. It's nothing more than price-gouging by the opportunistic. It won't last.
As regards skillups in Abyssea, I fought Dybbuks in Konschtat on my Monk yesterday and had no difficulty capping out my H2H long before I leveled. Fought Frigatebirds in Misareaux on Ninja today and ditto on Katana skill. Either people were unlucky with skillups or maybe SE did something to move people off the usual targets.
Does the Steam version of FFXI come with 64 bit pol? If not where do I get it?
Magain Great Axes: Which to get? (OAT/DA Axes Excluded as I have no friends. Even so, list your feelings on them if you wish.)
I'm thinking Sumeru, either WS Damage+10% or STP+11 (TP Per Hit: 13.2% w/o STP). The STR/Atk Atlus seems a little underwhelming with how easy it is to get attack nowadays.
EDIT: Also troubles with recast. Last two updates everything added is Unknown and I've applied the resources.xml from after the last update to no effect. Heard they changes where/how the new .dats are set up and I'm wondering if they fixed it yet?
It really, really should. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Couldn't find anything on feet, but head drops from Warbler and Pallid Percy at the very least.
af+1 follows a trend of
vunkerl = feet
attowha = head
misreaux = legs
from repeatable quests/nms
Does the "Enhances Avatar ACC" count as magic acc as well? And suggestions for a second ASA pants buff? Getting movement speed +8 but not many good smn ones :\
RDM Merits, looking for guidance. I did 5/5 convert timer and 5/5 earth magic potency from group 1 and 5/5 slow 2 from group 2. I'm comfortable with all that.
I was going to do 1 in each of the remaining group 2 options, but apparently Phalanx II sucks and now that pld gets Phalanx native, no real reason for it.
The problem I'm dealing with is I put 1/5 into Bio III and I'm realizing the timer on that is super short. I'm trying to decide between this setup for the remaining 5 merits for group 2:
1 Dia III (for merit style situations)
4 Bio III (for low-man NM)
vs.
1 Dia III
1 Paralyze II
1 Blind II
2 Bio III
Does the flexibility of the second set-up provide a greater benefit then the first set-up?
DA+7% > Maschu +1 > STR/Atk Atlas +1 > WS +10% Sumeru +1 > Any completed elemental magian > STP Sumeru +1
In my opinion, the STR/Atk Atlas +1 is still the most economic decision.
The WS Damage+10% Sumeru +1 looks like a safe choice, because it'll always be a Steel Cyclone weapon. I'd predict future magian upgrades will bump up the damage and WS Damage+% stat. However, unfortunately there's a chance that the STP Sumeru +1 will get bumped up enough and other gear will eventually be added to make a 5-hit viable on WAR. With the elemental weather buff, the hardest parts of the GA path (Beetles and dolls in weather) are essentially gone. I'd just do the STR/Atk GA. Any completed magian will be dramatically better than a previous option.
My rationale against DA+7% is that future updates will likely increase the amount of DA available to WAR (and consequently devalue it). My rationale against Maschu +1 is that the laem path is laem.
Where is the best place to do EP or higher beasts for magians?
U-range for sure. Catch it on Wind or Firesday if you want a JP hoard helping you.
Firesday is when I'll have to be doing it anyways.
Any tips on a good POS?
Edit: While we're at it.
Ifrit cauldron vs Halvung for bombs
Where's a good spot for lizards in Ifrit's Cauldron? 'Bout the only place I can find decent weather patterns, but no good spots without riskin' tons of adds/links.
Just show up around 18:00 Darksday and find an alliance. They generally roam around the upper area near the entrance (Tigers and Rabbits).
IC for Bombs, because that's where the JPs go. They have some crazy path they take, and if you want to impress them you'll bring 6ish Ice Clusters and make their path a little longer. I did over 100 bombs with them on my firesday last there.
I was tweeking my unfinished PLD XML earlier and for some reason my normal/idle gear isn't being equipped aftercast or after ability. Still pretty noob at Spellcast so I couldn't find anything wrong in here:
