    New processor

I just got a new processor and I was wondering how long after applying Arctic Silver 5 to connect it to the heat sink should I wait before turning on the computer?

Also I was wondering if there are any ways to unbend the pins on my old processor? Kind of bent the outer layer in a bit >,>

More concerned about the new one (at least for now assuming it works, don't want to fry it

make sure you apply the arctic silver evenly on the chip, firmly attach your heatsink and you should be good to go instantly - of course if all of your other components are plugged in correctly

if the bends on the pins aren't too bad, can use a mechanical pencil (no lead, just the plastic part) to lift or push depending on which way the pins bent.

Upon applying, seating the HSF, and screwing it in you can turn on the system. Just be sure to apply the TIM correctly and evenly. People tend to put globs of this stuff on the CPU. A thin even layer will do. You have to remember that the point of the TIM is to help the CPU heatsink and the HSF to touch properly. These two images best describe what I mean.

Same as above but with TIM in between:

As for the bent pins on your processor you could use some tiny needle nose pliers and bend them back slowly & carefully. Hopefully they're not too bent they're damaged or they snap upon bending back. I've never bent any pins so I'm not sure how durable those things are.

For bent pins, use the tip of a mechanical pencil (take the lead out first of course) and GENTLY bend it back to an upright position.
