FFXI keeps reverting to a low resolution

Hey. Having a little problem that I just cant figure out. Just got a new laptop and installing all the goodies. The only hiccup I've had so far is that regardless of what I try FFXI always reverts to 800x600 resolution. I want 1920 x 1080

    Relevant info:
    ASUS G51J
    Win 7 64 bit
    Windower active 3.42
POL and FFXI both ran as admin
Windower is NOT ran as admin

Ummm... any suggestions or need more info?
Please help me lol I didnt buy this beast to run it at 800x600 lol

Another problem I have with windower active is the controller ceases working properly..... (Menu controls dont work and some buttons get switched around)

Probably not gonna be much help here, but figured i'd ask before someone else does.

Have you changed the settings via Programs >> Playonline >> FFXI >> FFXI Config and also through windower?

Also, have you tried windower as admin?

Are you running luncher_gui as admin? Have you clicked the 64 bit check box? And made sure to hit save, and not just launch?

Before you do ANYTHING below, go into the FFXI Config Utility and set it to the max resolution (which should be 1280x1024). This is just a precautionary measure since every once in a while someone will run into a problem where manually tweaking the game's graphics causes crashes.

Now, we're gonna dive into your Windows Registry. Yes, tinkering with stuff in here has been known to cause problems, but these tweaks have been well tested and will work.

Go to: Start Menu, select Run if on XP, then type regedit and hit enter. When the registry opens up, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PlayOnlineUS\SquareEni x\FinalFantasyXI. You'll see something similar to this:

    http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...fx-regedit.jpg

The captioned items affect how the game is displayed. The screen resolution is set using lines 0001 and 0002. Double click on each key and set them to the following: 0001: 1920; 0002: 1080. Note: When you open up each key, there's a radio button to select decimal or hex numbers. Set this to Decimal BEFORE you change each value. You'll also want to change keys 0003 and 0004 to either equal or double the native resolution. I have mine set to double.

You'll also see above that some of the other keys have been marked. These are the more advanced 3D settings which improve the graphic detail of the game and your screenshots. If you want you can change them to match the values I have go ahead.

When you're done in the registry you can simply close it. Changes are saved the moment you edit each key. After you're done, don't re-open the FFXI Config Utility or many of these tweaks WILL be reset.

    -----------------------

Next up is tweaking the global 3D settings in your video card drivers. This screenshot is from an NVidia control panel, but you'll find similar settings in ATI's Catalyst:

These are pretty hefty settings, especially 16x AF, so expect your video card to be working overtime.

And last, but most important : USE WINDOWER, even if you run the game full-screen! You can't get full draw distance without it.

Yes, I have done this for both FFXI and Windower to no effect. It would load up about half of my screen with the game when the game swaps from POL > Fullscreen FFXI

Are you running luncher_gui as admin? Have you clicked the 64 bit check box? And made sure to hit save, and not just launch
Windower 3.42 has no splash screen anymore with those options. Double click the shortcut and it goes directly to POL now. And yes I did try running it as an admin.

Now, we're gonna dive into your Windows Registry.
Oh crap =/ Registry freaks me out man. But I'll give it a shot

On a side note. FFXI does not revert back to 800x600 when I dont use windower. So I've isolated it to a windower problem I think.....

Ok found it thanks. But even editing the registry didnt stop it from reverting to 800x600. *sigh* Stupid windower.
