How can i read FFXIV .dat files?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you know how can we read those .dat files in the FFXIV folders.

I wanna be able to read & see the quest texts and images, so basically like a POLUtility does.

try importing into altana viewer just a thought though. like changing one of the paths and see if anything pops up

Utilities including a model viewer and POLUtils-esque dat reader are in development and may or may not be released to the public anytime soon. The files are not human-readable, even with a hex editor that would otherwise let you read the raw text in the file. The model .dats are also in a different format that you won't be able to tinker with in the FFXI viewers.

Also, since you didn't put this in random questions, dead threads in 3... 2... 1....

As far as I know there's 2 viewers floating around but I don't know how to get access to either of them.

If your rly interested, best I could suggest is ask Gulk in the "Random Spec Thread." He checks it often and has posted model viewer stuff. If its his own I don't know. They could of been developer pictures
