What completely new effects will COR get in that time?
Maybe they'll get a +Conserve TP roll! Or maybe a -crit% taken roll! I mean, by your logic, variety is more important than utility, so BRD will be stuck with crappy, boring updates like Ballad3, Lullaby2, March3, Minuet5, Elegy3 (you know, stuff no one cares about), while COR gets New and Exciting rolls like +damage reflection, +Conserve MP, and half of a +Haste roll!

BRD has a bunch of songs, however, they have comparably fewer actual effects if you lump them categorically:

    ATT up
    Haste
    Elemental Resist
    MP regen
    Movement speed
And we're good. (You listed "songs" but neglected to mention slow, -elemental resist, dispel, sleep, and AOE sleep.)

Since there's the two buff limit, actual use for defensive buffs is pretty low.
This would be as opposed to COR's buff limit, which is...?

Funny that you mention the two buff limit. If COR had the option to put up the same roll twice (with a penalty to the second roll, in a Min4+Min3 fashion) that would actually help COR a great deal. If BRD could only use one song per spell line at a time, it wouldn't have the lead over COR that it does.

Ten levels, and about the best you can say for BRD's buff library is that they'll get a stronger Ballad.

Meanwhile, COR gets four completely new-to-them effects.
So BRD "only" get one huge, mega-important buff, while COR gets 4 all-new likely-mediocre effects. Quantity over quality?

It's more a tit-for-tat. You fussed that you don't have the few things BRD still has that COR doesn't. Where is BRD getting stuff that COR has and it doesn't?
Why the hell would BRD even want the stuff COR has? Seriously: which would you rather have, a conserve MP song, or Ballad3? A double attack song, or March3?

Or is your point that BRD should get both the stuff that COR has and upgrades in their existing spell lines?

So COR is useless outside of XP?
Is BRD "useless" outside of March? No. But you'd damn well better believe that if it was March that were obsoleted (instead of Corsair's), BRDs would be pitching a fit.

I don't think people are taking it into consideration, I know I didn't, but as both are damage dealing JA's it would seem likely that it won't give the mob TP.

That actually makes soloing much more awesome on COR if that is the case. QD->QD->WS (Not at all saying QD is giving 50% TP) Is Jump a set TP gain, or is it effected by the weapon? I don't recall.

The BLU spell set thing is such a welcome thing, one of the biggest reasons I don't do stuff as BLU. (Lazy, I know.)
If battery charge becomes equivalent to Composure->Refresh like was mentioned earlier, that would be great, 8 mins, I mean, it sucks it won't be as fast a gain, but with proper MP management shouldn't be a big deal, Auto-fresh/Mirage Jubbah+Battery Charge, I don't have much trouble as is, but I'm a taru.

That doesn't make COR a better DD.

it makes COR a better support, and more useful in Merit Parties.

    Of this i concur.

At the worst this Battery Charge change puts it on even timers with Animated Wail which is great for self-cycling on BLU even if it results in less MP/time.

Im hoping Vanity Dive is enough to push Mandibular Bite out of my spellset for one.
Imo don't really need more than the big 3 for most DD situations that you would be TPing the mob. A new spell for high end mobs, like cannonball, would be welcomed though. As it is I cycle the big 3 and between head butt/shadow reapplication/etc they are back up in no time. I really just wish SE would go back and adjust our magical spells though, 1k needles, bad breath and few others need mega adjusting because for one they are iconic spells and two they are pretty useless atm outside of special trait combo.

Techincally speaking all jobs have access to multihit weapons since introduction of magian trials.

You can't be serious about both jobs being similar in term of damage-dealing capabilities. Not only BRD are limited to sub par dagger selection, they also have one of the lowest skill rank among all the dagger wielding jobs (even COR have B+ skill which beats BRD's B-) and shitty weaponskills. QD adds decent amount of damage thanks to low recast and can potentially become COR's version of mini-Barrage/Meditate post update. Being able to shoot from distance also makes COR a more practical DD job than BRD esp. in endgame event.

The only unique feature of G-horn apart from saving inventory space is to add 1mp/tic to each Ballad song. The game has moved on since introduction of G-horn. Evoker's roll, Diabolos's favour, Battery Charge, Sublimation and soon Refresh II and Mage Ballad III all make G-horn +1 effect far less significant.

Afaik Frenetic Rip capped damange, so a good, new multi hit spell would be welcome.

If Frenetic Rip hasn't stopped benefiting from skill tier increases by now, it will with this update. Disseverment will cap out at some point during the next cap increase, possibly this coming one. It's definitely time to start cycling in fresh multihits.

That's like saying good RDM's should be able to manage their MP so that they don't need Convert when solo/lowmanning shit. Additional MP can and generally should be converted into damage, debuffs, or what have you, not left sitting idle in your MP pool or JA timer.

But if it is more MP over more time, then that is less time you have to spend casting it, which means time and mp to cast other spells. To quote an LS member "If your not hitting it, your not doing damage." if your having to buff often, then that is keeping you away from damaging- that being said SE could def eff it up and it could suck, but I just don't think it is gonna be too major of a kick in the pants.

As I generally use my BLU for lowman, I think MP management is pretty important, but in cases where you are zerging or don't have to worry about your own MP because someone else is- then sure, idle MP is wasted damage potential, but in cases where having no MP means people die, then managing it properly is pretty key.

Not possible. It may approach 3/tic again (after cost), but it'll never be more.

I'm not saying burn all your MP so that you're useless, I'm saying it's a straight loss in refresh rate and no amount of MP management will really compensate for that. If you could manage MP properly before, you'll still be able to now.

The use of a Gjallahorn also allows relic bards to reach a higher tier of March than other Bards. It may be a fraction of a percent for each tier, but people love counting their fractions when reaching the haste cap.

I am dreading what kind of trial might be added for my Horn... My husband has yet to finish his Mandau trials, and he's been working on other Magian weapons as well... He and I had a rather long vacation this summer, so we've fallen way behind everyone else >.>

    - The maximum amount of MP restorable with the blue magic spell "Battery Charge" will be increased. This will be accomplished by reducing the rate of MP restoration slightly, but increasing the total duration of the spell effect.
But it will be more MP total.

    Totally agree.

Just saying while it sucks, it may not be all bad- and had they integrated it a different way from the start, we would never know the difference we would just have been happy to get refresh. I'm much more dissapointed with the XI roll thing than this.

With that logic, maybe, but I think it is taken out of context from how he meant it? Maybe?

I understood he meant the COR could basically out parse the THF given the same party set up, not basing it off that the COR makes all the other DD's do more better. But that is fairly circumstantial- I would say it assumes the COR has a decent+ gear for DD'ing. Idk.
