    Should I be worried?

So every now and then whenever I turn my head I get a sharp and unusual pain in the back of my head, just above and behind my left ear. It feels almost as if something is snapping in my brain or something. The pain itself only lasts a second or so, then there is a strange aching afterwards and the area feels very warm. This usually lasts about 10 seconds or so then everything returns to normal.

I've noticed that its only when I turn my head to the left and usually when I'm sitting down or reclining back and even a gentle movement can cause it. They don't occur often, maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. I've been getting them for about 6 months now, the first one happened when I was shifting a fridge at work and they've been happening ever since.

So yeah, should I be worried and go to the doctors about it? I'm assuming its not normal for it to happen.

The only thing that should worry you is that you're relying on an internet forum for medical advice.

Seriously...how is there still a BG Medical tag when basically every thread comes down to: "Go to a doctor", "Get it checked out" or at the very least "WEB MD motherfucker". In all the threads I've seen here I've heard expert advice from police officers, programmers, maybe a lawyer or two. But I've yet to see someone who even claims to be a doctor say a word. Seriously, even Yahoo answers probably has better advice than here.

If you knew it would come down to that, why did you even post?

Probably because doctors are worried about liability and not about to offer specific medical advice or consultation over the internet, for a possible patient they haven't done a history and physical exam on and charted?

There has been plenty of good advice in these threads if you can endure the mindless "GO SEE A DOCTOR" spam that immediately fills them. Even if the poster ends up seeing a doctor, running straight to your family doctor isn't necessarily the best solution to the problem. People waste plenty of time and money doing this to simply get referred to a specialist without any sort of treatment or diagnosis. Still think they're pointless? Ok, noted. Now shut the fuck up and spare people the mundane routine of posts such as this.

I think people abuse BG Medical and ask for diagnosis. The most successful threads are ones where the OP says "I have issue X, I have been to the doctor or don't need to go to a doctor because it is not serious. It is very uncomfortable does anyone have any suggestions on how to alleviate symptoms or make me feel better?" or "I am suffering from Y has anyone else had Y before and knows if I should do XYZ to help me out while I recover?"

Also some threads sound like something very serious and the obvious answer is to go see a doctor.
