Same thing here, cannot access lobby server.

At least this shit is happening now and not during release like every other MMO... even though I am sure it will still be like this at release like every other MMO.

And to everyone bitching about UI and controls, yes they need a little more optimization... but try playing with a gamepad instead of a mouse and keyboard. It will cure 90% of your problems.

Hell is it REALLY that bad to play with a gamepad instead of a mouse? I don't know how many major complaints could be solved with just using a different interface controller..... but it seems to be alot of them

I just installed the patches earlier today and haven't been able to even create my character yet :/

After hitting the "Play Game" button or w/e it says, it loads the character select screen and immediately informs me that there's an error with the lobby server, then sends me back to the starting screen

To offer a better explanation though, I think the hate isn't directly aimed at or related to FFXIV but mostly SE. If you've played FFXI as long as most people on this board have, you've had your fill of SE years ago. This game held promise for most of us that SE was going to change its tune, and that this game was going to be everything that FFXI should have been much earlier on. Sadly its not looking that way at all and whatever tiny bit of optimism FFXI players could muster is diminishing very rapidly.

Honestly, I like the game so far. The only things I have problems with is the lack of monsters in some areas and some laggy parts of the UI.

I have no problems with bugs and such...I know it can take a long time to fix certain things. Some people don't really understand how development works and how tough it can be sometimes. Every game didn't start out bug free and everything hunky doory...
Every successful game started out scratchy. It will only get better overtime.

Also, to people who say stuff like "WAHH no content...nothing to do..." There is plenty to do... :\ You just gotta open yourself up to more than just doing guildleves... I haven't been bored yet. Not every game started out with full content...it was normally added overtime. So why ever so many people think there isn't enough STARTER content... I have no idea.

I'm not saying everything is OK and I'm not trying to defend anyone...I just wanted to say I wish more people had patience... :\

I've played a lot of games...and a lot of betas...they all are similar...bugs...and crashes...it happens... :\ I don't really know what to say anymore to everyone...

I'm just glad I have a few RL friends to make statics with...and party play when done correctly is very very fun!

Did a bunch of that today and had a blast! :D

BTW: To the people who say they crashed and get a lobby error...I'm pretty sure they have it locked for some reason or another...probably going to be a maintenance...so just chill. ._.

How about reading the thread?

Admittedly, I haven't read the entire thread, but most of what I've had read has been complaining about the beta client itself or the servers going down etc. Clearly, that has nothing to do with actual in-game content. But, I'll go back to the beginning and start over. Thanks.

Yeah, this is kind of how I'm feeling at the moment. Which is why I was questioning which parts were so terrible, but that was the wrong thing to do apparently!

If there are any mods around can we get some big flashing red letters saying the servers are down so that people stop posting about it, clearly they are unable to read the last page or two.

Playing near gridania. Soloing was sucking. Teamed up with a conjurer from my guild and had a blast doing two man content. Professions are a blast--though the system for handling inventory and for dealing with merchants (and what they stock) needs to be massively improved.

Still, game has been fun. The daily patches seem to be making improvements--or maybe that's just outleveling other people and leaving the lag behind.

For those of you who actually follow what the devs are reporting to the community: It is quite clear that under certain conditions a client can crash the server. They still haven't fixed the "critical bugs" that were present during the delay of open beta. Launch will be very very interesting.

Is anyone getting to at least the character select screen? I just keep getting "13001 The lobby server connection has encountered an error. Error code: 1015 Status 0"

I started in Grind just to mix things up. lag mother fucking fest Soo went back to Limisa .... found Sheep camp practically dead. Lvled there on 3 diff jobs to rank 10 in 1 day. From just the lack of people compeeting for mobs and this is on Lindblum.
