I was a kb/mouse player in XI but i'm playing XIV with a ps3 controller. I think its going to be a strange experience this time around.

I've got a PS2 and PS3 controller standing by, just in case this shit isn't sorted out by retail, but I'd rather use a 360 controller if I could pick.
I'll be damned... That mouse fix actually works. Moves like a normal mouse. Cliff is the man. LOL
lol. So funny how this works. SE purposely leaves out/removes something from it's MMO for an unknown reason.
Example; (going on hearsay here but bare with me) Pre ffxi release, you were able to see tp of people in party. In release they removed it for an unknown/stupid reason. Down the road a plugin was created to show it.
Same deal with hardware mouse.
Then the community says F this shit, and makes their own. SE tolerates it but still refers to it as illegal, however half the player base would probably loose interest quickly were these small community fixes not implemented. Hell I'm using a PS3 controller to play this game, but only because there's no hardware mouse. Battle mode is so much easier using numerical keys to input commands than using the Dpad to move to #8(or whatever). Just give us a freaking hardware mouse so Cliff doesn't have to pick up the slack for you. Just because all of JP land uses a controller to play games, it just isn't the case over here in NA. We also don't all drive gas efficient cars, and pride ourselves on our trucks and SUV's. Is it right? Who cares. You're developing the product, make it work for the market you're trying to sell it to. /nerdrage off
Would be interesting to see this hardware mouse issue "fixed" in the XIV version of windower, or whatever the community will make up to address problems that SE is slow/resistant to fix/address.
mouse fix is awesome! although it makes it hard for me to actually want to pay a company a penny when they're intentionally gimping simple things like the mouse interface. it's like they developed an awesome game and then trolled everyone with a pile of shit for UI. so frustrating![]()
Whoever told you that SE is forcing software mouse to make it harder to bot is trolling you...
Bot = automated, you are not there to do anything, it sends functions, game responds. It doesn't use a mouse/keyboard at all.
oh and as for most useless craft, probably something like cooking or fishing, unless you just want to NPC everything for money since thats about all the use there is for it atm. The stats eating foods is very minor and not too noticable.
I was actually surprised to find out there wasn't a controller included with my CE edition... That would have been the logical choice over a journal that I can use to write about how I wish it had come with a decent controller.
Edit: I already said Cliff won the mouse debate. Too bad he doesn't work for SE.
*OR DOES HE? DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!*
In phase 3 I did smithing and carp. Making maple shields at least, I noticed that upon starting the synth it said I didn't possess a high enough level in armory to make the item, though I still tried and pumped out a few easily. Tried to make some wands as well but I got the same message about alchemy and ended up failing the wands. So your best bet is to do 2-4 different crafts, pretty much targeting what you want to make. Without a large recipe data base yet it's kinda hard to see whats needed and you can also add in the fact that the UI is still very laggy for crafting(main reason I'm not playing with it again till release).
They must have a reason for not turning the hardware mouse mode on...
UI has one more annoying thing I hoped they would fix, but doesn't seem to be happening soon >.< How the game closes your chat windows every time "something happens"/ Lets say you are crafting, and wanted to type something on LS when your character is banging with that hammer, well you better hurry up because when the animation ends and the new craft timer pops up your chat bar will get closed and you will lose what you were writing X.x This happens during a lot of things too. Hope they fix that for release D:
Yeah, the subclassing required to make gear is a bit excessive right now. As an example:
Armor requires: Leatherworker for leather, Weaver for the clothing part of the armor (i.e. tabards on chain mail), Blacksmith for ingots, Armorer for armor parts and the armor synth itself and Goldsmith for anything that uses Brass (helmets, for example)
Weapons require: Leatherworker for leather and straps (grips), Armorer for rivets, Alchemist for glue, Carpenter for shafts/handles and Blacksmith for the blade and the actual synth
You need to either level everything or very quickly make friends with people leveling every single other craft in order to get anywhere.
He said in the thread on FFXIAH there's something along the lines of "EnableUnusableInterface(true)" which he turned to False.
Translation: He told XIV to go from suck to blow.
