For epiphany it always is an option, regardless of what I synth. It just doesn't always show up as an option, I think it only appears after I fail a synth. Hasty hands only shows up at the begining.
Looking at the abilities lists, it seems like each craft has a particular stat affinity, so Clothcraft values Mind, and Goldsmith values Dex. I have pumped my dex very high for my DOW job (Still not sure if dex is broken) and have always done well at Goldsmithing, so that may explain my success. I find I am more likely to fail on reds, so wait on those, which causes it to return to rainbow or white which succeeds more often. I try to get my quality above 100 without losing too much durability, so i can "touch up" a few times for HQ.
I'm sure they'll do something to encourage using more than a few wards. But knowing SE they'll just cap the number of retainers per ward.
I'm just not impressed at all with FFXIV. I really had my hopes up especially since it's geared toward casual players as that's all I have time for. This game isn't worth the $75 CE or the $50 standard. You'd think with the years of experience with XI they'd be able to put together a solid game.
Yeah yeah, it's still Beta. If they can pull something out of their ass and fix all the problems in what....13 days? Then I'll give them a cookie. Or if they have some magical 100% problem free solution just sitting around and not letting us see it, then they're just assholes and basically saying "Screw you" to the customers. Sorry SE, but I'll be keeping my money this time around.
Patch is up. 10MB
If they would at least assign item types to a ward that would help a lot in bringing some organization to the system. Designating Ward #1 the ward for crafting materials, Ward #2 for armor, Ward #3 for weapons, Ward #4 for consumables, ect.
Or at least one NPC in each ward that lists the combined wares of all the retainers in the ward...
More mobs for me on the 22nd!
I have been using this data base for open beta, its great for crafting and just finding recipes, it also has all the quests and leves, I found it very helpful to locate the NPCs in town for local leves without running around everywhere. Enjoy...

I can't see a sorted ward working, really. Lots of people will be selling a variety of stuff, especially since the game design encourages exploring multiple crafts and gathering jobs. I suppose its possible that once the crafting community establishes itself, people will start having different retainers for each of their crafts, but that still seems like a long shot.
Yeah, the search item feature is great. But I would take an Auction House over a thousand Search Item features.
It just comes down to the fact they had a lot of time to fix this stuff.. but they thought it was a good idea and continued to ignore basic user feedback. They have gotten tons of feedback on the UI, the retainer system, battle mechanics, ect.. tons of feedback on those areas. and they have barely touched the UI or retainer system. Not saying all that feedback was good, but I'm sure they could of taken 20 core issues that came from everyone and worked on fixing those.
And it can't just be NA feedback they have ignored, I'm sure JP and EU ppl have all complained about the basic core things. I'm just disappointed they couldn't listen to the feedback when they had the chance, and are now getting publicly trashed. At the very least I hope the client is at least stable for retail.. nothing like bringing in a new-age-AoC and having the client crashing for ppl left and right, while others r fine.
did they change it so you can search items that you "do not" have in your inventory?
They did have the time to implement the "check" feature though. Guess that was more important.
It definitely has a lot of potential and could be a great game, but they still have a lot to go.
I don't think they ignored anything, but some of those changes were for the worse, not for the better. At least when it comes to UI. Testers said that X needs fixing, so they did Y, which is actually worse than X. Especially Alpha>Beta 1 was like this, after that I think they've fortunately kept improving.
In other words
Game sucks needs fixing *rabble* *rabble*!!!Alpha had it, it's nothing new. They did have the time to implement the "check" feature though. Guess that was more important.
are patch notes up for this yet?
The reason why rolaberry/batalia mart ever existed is because ppl dont want to pay tax for their high end items, but in ff14 we dont. Even have endgame stuff yet so.......
