FFXIV Random Speculation/Question thread VIII: Alpha Was The Best Beta v2 -_-;

It's a Behest. Basically, a spur-of-the-moment Battle leve that anyone can join in on that involves killing some shit nearby. I wouldn't recommend the higher-tier camp's Behests unless a bunch of people join up. Even so, getting the idiots that sign up to get all into a party is annoying since the claim mechanics of the mobs don't change, so they can be claimed by one person only.

I joined an Emerald Moss (Rank ~10) Behest at Lv.15/PGL12 and after the weak mobs were down, there was one Slug, and one Angler left. The Angler one seemed semi-manageable by 2 people, but it always linked with the Slug and vice versa. The Slug would do an AoE Viscuous Discharge that did about 750~800 damage to everyone. It was retarded and incredibly far away from camp.

EDIT: Wanted to add I've tried removing all my equipment/only putting on things that are "optimal" for me, and it hasn't gone away (Or is there some stupid long time before it would?)

I've had that low-durability-equipment icon stay red, even after I fixed everything, until I relogged.

Meant the other icon, but yeah I found out that low-durability wouldn't go away until I relogged.

That's the problem though -- Repaired all gear, taken off all my gear, WAITED ~an hour (naked) to see if it went away, checked to make sure even anything in my bag not equipped wasn't broken (everything 50% or higher). It's just really baffling, because I can't find anything that relates to it. Was hoping someone else had that status effect (I've had it for almost 3-4 days straight now). Guess I may just need to wait for retail and hope the manual has the icon with a proper description ; ;

Well, I was mostly suggesting that you might have to re-log while simultaneously doing the appropriate actions to get any kind of change.

edit: good god I'm tired of being rewarded with recipes for lumber, planks, or chips. They are sooooooo difficult to discover.

I was hoping I could fly if I turned it off, but was sorely disappointed.

How items are animated on characters I think.

Hair movement, wavyness on clothes, rattling of belt, etc. When its off all of these are static and resembles FFXI.

Physics effects things like your hair and clothes, giving them their real feel. for example with physics on your hair will move when you run, and it makes clothes seem less flat.

During Phase-3, I mentioned I got my AFK ass handed to me by an otherwise unaggressive Sea Hare (slug) in Cassiopeia Hollow and was told it was just a random chance of getting hit by it because they randomly do that AoE Viscous Discharge move on their own.

This is not the case because there appears to be one more 'type' of mob aggression that I would call "territorial." They are aggressive but will not give chase. I've seen this in some Snippers as well. If you stand near them, they get pissed and will eat you if you don't GTFO. If you pass without lingering too long, they don't seem to mind and will not range-attack you either. Thus, do not hang around Sea Hares for more than the time it takes to run past them...

Is there a way to macro something to un-equip?

While it might be different for other mobs, that's how it works for Sea Hare's. You can stay far from them and observe how they discharge from time to time.

I've watched and they didn't do anything. They did it after I ran past. And it's a slug's standard move. You can see them react and put their little horns up in an aggressive stance when you get close.

Anoles are also "territorial."

Yes, we know it's "cool" to bash the beta with retarded joke posts, but it's getting pretty old.


Has anyone seen Guild Marks as a reward for Rank ~10 leves in the Open Beta yet? I had only seen it happen towards the end of Phase 3 and I have since surpassed my previous ranks/levels.
