    X360/PS3 question

What is the highest resolution that the component cables that come standard can support? Just got a sony bravia 42 inch plasma for the bedroom and am starting to finally understand the HD revolution (watched ToV movie in Blu-ray on my laptop and was sold). I'd like to get the most out of my FFXIII and ToV replays and any other games that come out (if I play FF14 on PS3 etc).

Don't currently have hdmi cables for xbox or ps3, but I feel like shit looks really good through only the 3 prong connectors so I'm just wondering what it's currently putting out and how much better it can get?

Component is probably outputting @ 720p. They are probably capable of doing higher but the manufacturers all were planning on using HDMI for 1080p. Just buy an HDMI cable, you can get them for $1 sometimes.

If the Component part is the part that going into the TV, the TV is going to accept 720p max from it, just the way it's designed i believe . Just buy an HDMI cable, it'll be worth it.

    $2:

I haven't tested that one specifically, but i bought one off that site for $1 last week.

Hrm. It's perfectly possible to push a 1080p signal through component if your tv supports it. Mine does and i have. It also looked like crap due to the massive signal degradation from pushing that much information through very low end cables. Ps3 had worse graphical problems than the 360 by far but both were noticeable. Soon as I could I swapped both out for cheap hdmi cables and solved that problem.

So the real question isn't "can you", but "should you".

Especially for ff13, you should get the cables. It is AMAZING how good it looks.
