    Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/70400/

Can sum this game up with this

Recettear is the story of an item shop, the girl who lives in it, and the fairy who turned her life upside down. Recette Lemongrass finds herself in charge of an item shop built into her house, in order to pay back a loan her father took and then skipped out on - and Tear, her newfound fairy "companion", won't take no for an answer! As Recette, you have to decide how you'll get your stock - either through playing the markets in town or going out into the wild with an adventuring friend and thrashing beasts until they give up the goodies - how much to sell things for, what the shop should look like, and how to best go about getting the money Tear needs to pay off the loan. If you can't come up with the money... well, hope you like living in a cardboard box.

    Key features:

Manage all aspects of an item shop – from stock to interior design!
Explore randomized dungeons – never quite the same twice!
Multiple adventurers to choose from when dungeon-diving – no two play the same!
Plenty to do after beating the game – challenge yourself with Survival Mode or play to your heart's delight in Endless Mode!
Engaging story, localized by Carpe Fulgur – get to know the people of Pensee!

$17.99 right now but $20 normal price. Download the demo and play it.

got any pics/videos of the dungeon crawling? Is it as important as the item shop itself? Definitely has a Rune Factory vibe so that's probably why this appeals to me so much

Now we just need Julian in here and we're guaranteed 500 pages.

Looks pretty awful. Sure hope the shop management is better than what I've been hearing to make up for it.
Double Edit: OKAY, I take that back, that was a fucking terrible video.

Wasn't there a classic RPG where you had to do the same scenario? At least for a part of the game. I think I remember reading about something like that, but can't recall the title for the life of me.

Beat the demo. Kinda fun game, but I'm not sure it's my type. Seems like a blast if you like this style of game. Also, it's good for indie developers to make money, but $20? Professional developers charge less for way more.

Played the demo through once, probably playing it again tomorrow. Was a lot of fun, nice quick timewaster.
I'll probably buy it, 15€ for 20ish hour storyline + more in optional stuff doesn't sound too bad.

It's more of a public release of a Translation of the game. The devs signed a contract with the company to translate it and bring it on steam etc.

are you thinking of Dragon Quest IV? In one of the early chapters you have to play as Torneko and you can buy/sell stuff, actually exploiting the system is an easy way to make sure your main character has plenty of money when the last chapter rolls around. You can get a cautery sword from a random traveller, and even though gold doesn't carry over you can buy/sell and basically end the chapter with 99 of everything, which you then sell when you get him back in your party.

Indies localized it. The game itself was produced by a Japanese development studio a few years ago and was apparently popular in that area for its time. The price was needed to help make *some* profit off of it since a core chunk of the money is going to the devs, not the localization group.

That's fair then. I didn't think it was an outrageous price anyways, just a little steep.

Took me a second to get it, but then I lol'd. I'll admit, the OP made me buy the game as well, but it's pretty cheap for how long it's supposed to be, so it's fine.

Got to 480/500k on the last day/payment requirement. Fuck yoooooou game. Buying/selling aspect is very eh, dungeon crawling is very simple and way too easy, but not as bad as I thought it'd be. It's an absolute waste of time compared to just buying and selling stuff early on though which sucks.
