I have the exact same laptop and get the "FFXIV has stopped working" error. Same thing happened with the benchmark and open beta installer.

Did you initially have no issues running the game, or updater? If so, what did you do to fix the problem? I'm seeing many people with the same issues on another board, mainly ATI card users. Some claim downloading 10.8 catalyst drivers. Did you uninstall the old drivers and then do this? Have you had no errors while playing the game since you made this post? My apologies for the influx of questions. Thanks in advance.

i got a Hp hdx 18t surprisingly all i got is q9000 @ 2ghz and 8gbs and funny enough just a nvidia geforce gt130m it runs fine. only thing i can't do that is annoying me is go to 1920 by 1080 or higher with out it dying settings

    windowed: 1680 x 1050 lol
    multisampling:16xQ CSAA
buffer size: resolution (if i try double it lags no matter what)
    shadow detail: standard
Graphics: ambient occlusion depth of field all X and texture quality and filtering set to high and it runs just fine

oddly enough got a friend who just switched from vista 64 to windows 7 64 bit and it magically works better on his laptop and it is dam near dup of mine, other than i am vista 64 vs his w7. now if anyone can explain that i am all ears because that makes no sense to me at all.

Other odd ball stuff changing from full screen vs windowed my full screen lags on any random resolution i can't explain it but there you go my laptop is two years old and it is still running it just no 1920 by 1080 T.T

I have a Dell Studio 1749 which runs the game pretty well. An update to FF14 in B3 screwed performance a bit but I think its a driver problem, as even at 30+ FPS it jitters, but I assume when ATI releases an update things will be back to normal.

Cost about £900 from the dell site.

    win7 64bit
    i5 540 @ 2.53GHz Turbo to 3GHz
    ATI 5650 1GB
    4GB RAM

You could get it for cheeper but I suckered in for stuff like a backlit keyboard and red casing XD But its got an awesome sound system

Also why whenever someone makes a laptop thread anywhere do we get piles of people coming in ranting about how the OP should get a desktop. If they want a laptop, they want a laptop, so stfu. God forbid anyone should want to play a game outside their basement.
