That was shown in the TGS trailer, iirc.

Looks like we're getting full look at it Today/Tomorrow, whever Famitsu releases info
The magazine also has full looks at Vaan along with returning
characters Gabranth, Tina Branford and Cefca. There's also a look
at a new map, a floating Bahamut fortress.
This is all it says for now
The magazine explained Vaan’s EX-Burst too. It’s essentially the
same as Gabranth’s from Quickening move from Dissidia: Final
Fantasy. Players press R to shuffle commands and the circle
button to use them.
Wait, so Vaan's antagonist is really Gabranth? From the scans it looks that way.
Lol, I think the one and ONLY thing Vaan ever says to Gabranth in FFXII is "And Reks!", while Gabranth doesn't even acknowledge Vaan's existance.
At least Vayne could have appeared as the person who was responsible for both Reks' death and Dalmasca's fall so he might have worked as a sort of unseen villain who works from behind the scenes in Dissidia like he did in FFXII.
Vaan's Dissidia story is probably going to be an incredibly silly and monodimensional thing like Tidus' "I just want to kick my dad's ass!".
I'm not completely counting Vayne out yet since it seems that FFXII's battlefield is the place where the final boss is fought, hopefully he's been included.
Sickly from the graphical style? What does that even mean? The thing is, Tidus is just as, if not worse than Vaan on all the points you mentioned. I get why he doesn't fit into the world, but that doesn't mean he needs to be retarded looking.
Yes, Tidus is infinitely more useful as a character and in X's story, but that hardly matters for dissidia.
And lol @ the quickening statement. No one had an explanation. Like how Balthier was able to summon tidal waves and meteors, or how Basch could punch through reality or some shit. Limit break type moves are supposed to look cool, and Vaan's looks awesome.
And as much as I like Amano's...style, some of his designs are really impractical lol.
duodecim isn't following the protagonist-antagonist pairing thing unlike the first dissidia so I don't think there'll be much of an issue. Eventually I think there'll be equal number of Cosmos and Chaos characters though. If I'm not mistaken, both Jecht and Kuja might be aligned with Cosmos this time round, but that doesn't necessarily rule out rivalry between the characters..
Vaan's main antagonist in the original story actually is Gabranth anyway. He was the one who killed Reks and King Raminas, effectively causing his nations capture and a life of misery to beset his hometown. Gabranth isn't exactly the main antagonist because Vayne had always been the orchestrator but he still is the one who does most of everything that shaped the events of the game... Him and Zecht anyways.
Vaan's... face. Those bags under his eyes. That chalky look around his lips. I just couldn't stand his face in the in-game model, but to be fair, I didn't like a lot of people's faces, like Fran's Max Payne look.
Look, I'm right there with you on the "art style". I like symmetry in my designs; practical symmetry. Armor that protects both sides evenly (unless its Knights of the Round for the SNES), the suit and tie design of the Turks, ect. I hate this one-sleeved chains with belts look that Nomura and Amano seem to cling to, but I'd rather see someone rocking Tidus' outfit than Vaan's belly-buster Jersey Shore ensemble.
At this point, however, its like arguing which vehicle looks better between a Saturn and a Kia.
If you think about it, though, with all the flash and glitz that Xanarkand had, you knew his look would have to have some crazy vibe to it. Plus, he was essentially wearing a sports uniform throughout the entire game. If you looked at the normal people, they wore regular clothing in Xanarkand, especially at the beginning of the game.
I guess it'd be the same if an American Football player was sucked into some completely different world, but throw in Nomura's obsession for chains and belts that lead to absolutely nothing.
I always liked RPGs where the characters, or at least main character, wore different outfits at some point. Cloud dressed up differently sometimes, as did Gau and a few other FF characters. I think I would have liked Vaan a lot better if he wore a different outfit at some point; maybe something closer to Vossler for a time.
Hell yeah they are. I might get PE3 just to play dress up. I also like it in RE, and sometimes the outfit has different effects which is always nice.
Though generally there's a good reason why they don't do it. I get it, but I hate it. I think characters should change clothes every so often, especially in RPGs that take place over a long period.
Beside that, X just had... I want to say the worst designs for clothes out of any FF. The majority of people, from Spira or Xanarkand, looked so fucking stupid.
Actually Fran explains that inside Raithwall's Tomb, even if briefly. She says that in a thick Mist people are capable of performing powerful magicks, refering to quickenings - notice that they were called Mist something in the Japanese version.
Anyway, why is everyone mispelling Zanarkand?
Sorry if post came out weird .-.Vaan:
Switching among 8 types of
weapons.
Has a lot of Brave attacks.
Can fight at close range or
far range depending on how
you customize.
Each Brave attack utilizes
one weapon.
Confirmed Weapons: sword,
greatsword, spear, gun,
katana, bowgun/crossbow,
fist.
Switch ability
The special part of Vaan.
Unlike other multi weapon
user, Vaan will not put
away his weapon after
attack.
If you use a particular
weapon's Brave attack
while holding another
weapon, Switch ability is
executed.
Switch ability is provided
for each weapon. It has
properties such as: adding
"guard" to slow attacks,
charge-able, absorb, move
while attacking etc.
Using the "correct" weapon
of the attack will not
trigger Switch ability.
Therefore, the order of
performing Brave attacks
becomes important.
There is no Switch ability
for fist(bare hand).
Gabranth new Brave
attack:
地裂斬 (Ex mode, ground) -
releasing fast flame pillars
on ground, tracks opponent.
They were called Mist knacks in the jp version.
oo gun, bow, greatsword.
Vaan sounds like what Butz should've been >_>
Gabranth's new move seems like Cecil's Dark Knight Dark Flame (think thats what it was called) move but as a Brave Attack, would make up for Aero's ehhh general usefulness. Slightly more reliable HP move would be cool too but I wonder how many moves they will add in general. Doubting Shantotto will get more HP moves as opposed to Braves.
Pretty bad, but I'll post 'em anyway
