Been playing the demo for the past hour but I'm torn... If I keep playing I'm probably going to get the JP version as well, and then I'll have to learn everything trough trial and error or reading a shitload of guides to get specific things, like I did with the first dissidia, but once the NA version comes out, I probably wont play it, whereas if I skip the JP game and just play with the NA version, it'll probably be a funner and better experience. Damn you, choices!!

My body was not prepared for the leaked soundtracks.

I imagine that Gamestop will be giving Aerith away as a pre order bonus. The kiddies do love FFVII.

OST to the first Dissidia was a huge selling point for me this one is so sexy I can't hold in my pleasure anymore.

So uh... Shantotto got WAY better now. You can chain Stun in to all kinds of moves which is ridiculous. Her melee stuff comes out a lot faster. Pretty sure you get higher tiers of magic with less brave than in the original Dissidia, they all seem to come out a little faster now too. Guarding Retribution also makes you stagger now, I can't remember if it did this in the original.

The stagger was new. I can't wait to see her now if she is this much better =o What moves can you chain with Stun? If I remember you can't block Stun so if you got close to anyone and you can HP attack/Bio each time that'd be insane.

Bio wears off faster but the damage ticks have a much shorter interval now.
Fire launches several projectiles and Blizzard has ridiculous range (it hit me all the way across Orphan's Cradle).
Her combo spells are much faster now which means it's nearly impossible to escape after the first one hits.

Fire and Blizzard were normally pretty iffy in the past, only used them against like CoD's magic counter-attack. Not sure if it would indeed replace Water/Aero but you're making it sound like it's longer range than those now (Water/Aero were the longest ranged spells before with suction included). Guessing Bio is still the same speed.

You can reflect Bio by guarding it now too, can't remember if you could in the old one. As for chaining things from Stun, she hit me with Retribution a ton of times out of it as well as HP attacks a couple of times. Positioning seems a little iffy on it though. She missed the Retribution a few times due to height differences.

Yea you could guard and even dash through Bio. Stun sounds more interesting now, would have to remove something for it if it's usable now. Retribution --> Water --> Stun (over Fire/Blizzard). Does Stun work through ExDeath's shields I can't remember...

Thank god Shantoto is better, she was going to be my main in Dissidia until I realized she sucked lol. Looks like I'm going back! Any word on Gabranth yet?

Heard Gabranth's ex charge is quicker now to fill the bar and his new attack is good.

Not playable, but from fighting him he doesn't seem a whole lot different. Every other character takes a lot longer to fill the EX gauge now though, which means he kind of got a buff in that regard since he can still effortlessly get in to EX mode. He's still beastly in EX mode from what I've seen.

Edit: I haven't even seen his new attack, didn't even know he had one!

That's good, Gabranth is not to be fucked with in EX-mode. I think they showed his new attack in that 6min long trailer posted a couple pages ago right? If so, that looked cool.

Yea I think it was a BRV attack that's similar to Cecil's Dark Flame. Don't recall if it's only in non-ex mode or ex-mode.

Chasing really does fill up the Ex-gauge the fastest out of all attacks. Couple of other things I noticed: CoD has two new energy projectiles from what I can tell - One is homing and does continuous damage and the other sends 4-6 bouncing energy balls across the ground that explode on impact. As an assist her air assist allows you to teleport to the enemy.
Shantotto's ground assist appears to be Bind, Ultimecia managed to surprise me with this and bind me just as she launched one of her HP attacks.
Ultimecia also has a new weapon available to her - one version of her spears sends you flying forward and allows chase, the other creates a set of 3 spears vertically that send you flying up when you run into them and they stay in place for a few seconds. As I found out repeatedly you can't dash through these -_-.

I'm mostly using Lightning so far and I'm pretty impressed. She's one of the few characters who has good long and short range attacking options on both ground and air.

Thundaga is one of the best short range BRV attacks in the game imo since it lasts really long, blocks all sorts of projectiles and it keeps going even if Light gets hit, so it's not uncommon to interrupt the opponent's attacks.
Army of One is equally good and it links to Thunderfall. I think it's completely unblockable once you land the first hit but not 100% sure.
One of her COM attacks (forget which) also links to Flourish of Steel.

Watera and Blizzara are good to pressure the opponent and give you room to spam Cure.
Curespamming is not to be underestimated since she has plenty of room to cast it thanks to the pressure she can cause.

Blitz is fast and has good tracking.
Ruinga is a decent ground attack with good radius.
Lightning Strike is essentially a ground version of Zidane's Free Energy.

She pretty much has everything she needs to deal with most characters.
Her EX-mode isn't anything special though, so I guess it evens things a little.

Haven't tried Kain yet but I can tell he's a real asshole with his attacks having absurd range and sending you flying all over the place.

Yeah, I'm liking Lightning as well. I really like her job changing, adds a lot more to her play style.

A small thing I noticed about some characters:

    - Terra's fully charged Meltdown actually moves a bit slower, but can track.
    - Fire > Firaga is a lot more evil than I thought.

    - Tifa's "Feints" actually get pretty tricky. Technically leads into an automatic Backstab position if you guard too early, which is pretty crazy.

    - Kuja is really, REALLY annoying.
    - The initial brave hits of Seraphic Star actually track onto the opponent.
    - He can move around during Seraphic Star, and pretty much all of his HP attacks or something. Ergh.
    - New HP attack, Symphony or something, is pretty hard to dodge without Omni Airdash...

I didn't know Lightning's Army of One could link to Thunderfall... can it really?

Yep, start mashing square in the middle of it. Thunderfall doesn't always hit though, kinda like Terra's Ultima at the end of Holy Combo.

Pulled from the game files apparently:
    "Prishe:
    Concept: Combo Maker
Description: Freely combines/combos her attacks, can link these with her original 'super moves'.

    Gilgamesh:
    Concept: Scramble Fighter
Description: Pick a suitable weapon to attack; even Gilgamesh can't predict the power."
Can't wait to get my hands on Prishe.

Sounds like Prishe is going to have FFXI's skillchains at her disposal.
