watch it be a big troll and it's really Vincent in one of his Chaos Limit Break transformations.
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/201...eki_interview/Info from this week's Dengeki PlayStation has leaked out via the usual sources for early magazine leaks. The magazine apparently has a very revealing interview with Tetsuya Nomura, mostly surrounding Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy, but also touching on a few other areas.
I haven't verified any of this (I probably won't get Dengeki until later tonight or possibly tomorrow), but here are some bullet points:
Nomura apparently tells the magazine that there's no next for Dissidia -- that is, Dissidia in its current form ends with Duodecim. He adds that there could be a completely different form of Dissidia, though. Regarding this area, he says that he feels they've done all they can with the combat base, but the game could appear in a new form. "I'd like to have the staff make a different genre."
There won't be a "Universal Tuning" type international re-release for Duodecim. The reason is that the overseas version is seeing near simultaneous release with the Japanese version this time.
Regarding a possible Kingom Hearts Birth by Sleep download release, Nomura says that this is difficult for a reason he can't say. The problem is separate from Square Enix, Disney or Utada Hikaru (who sings the theme songs). "I want to do something, but it will take time."
On Sony's new NGP system, producer Yoshinori Kitase was apparently in attendance at Sony's unveiling press conference. Kitase shared his opinions and ideas with Sony during the hardware's development (a recent Famitsu interview with Sony Computer Entertainment's president revealed that Sony did actively go around getting input from developers when developing the NGP). However, Nomura said that he could not yet talk about his (or possibly Square Enix's) plans for NGP titles.
Nomura also reveals that the voice actor for Gilgamesh is Kazuya Nakai.
The above is based off a brief summary of the interview that's floating about, so there may be some discrepancies from the source material. I'll verify once I have the magazine for myself!
Few more details from Siliconera
Also:Close to a year after Dissidia: Final Fantasy made its debut in Japan, Square Enix repackaged the English version as Dissdia: Final Fantasy Universal Tuning. The updated release had balancing tweaks, arcade mode, and most notably English voice acting.
Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy won’t get that kind of re-release, Tetsuya Nomura said in an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, since the overseas version is being released almost simultaneously with the Japanese version.
Nomura also said there will not be a "next title." That doesn’t mean the team has given up on fighting games, though. Later in the interview, Nomura says he believes he has done everything he can with the combat base. After this game, the Dissidia series could remerge with a new form. Nomura says the staff has been working on 1 on 1 fighting games for several years and would like to work with a new genre.
Director Takahashi Mitsunori tells Dengeki the 12th story (the new storyline in Dissidia 012) is 15 hours long. Dissidia 012[duodecim] also includes the 13th story from the original Dissidia: Final Fantasy, which Mitsunori says has an extra 60 hours of playtime. Like Dissidia: Final Fantasy, there is a data install option which takes up to 800 MB. The install takes awhile so Mitsunori recommends taking a nap while the game is installing.
Blue Swimsuit...?Dengeki Online also had a bit more information about Gilgamesh, a new character in Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy. As mentioned earlier, Gilgamesh is a "scramble fighter" and he pulls out a random weapon each time you attack. Gilgamesh has eight arms and fairly long reach. One of those arms is holding the Excalipoor, which deals 1 point of damage.
Director Takahashi Mitsunori says creating Gilgamesh felt similar to how he developed Kefka’s and the Final Fantasy VI villain’s reverse magic. The staff enjoyed brainstorming different attacks like rocket punch missiles which allow Gilgamesh to attack from a distance.
Gilgamesh’s another form wraps a turban around his face. His third form is based on pixel art and has Gilgamesh wearing full plate armor. Bartz’s third form is also based on unreleased pixel art from Tetsuya Nomura’s sketchbook. Exdeath’s third form is a Neoexdeath motif.
Yuna, as you may have seen before, has a wedding dress sans veil as her third form. Newcomer Prishe has a blue swimsuit.
Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy Creative Producer Tetsuya Nomura and Director Mitsunori Takahashi are featured in this week's Dengeki PlayStation in a two page interview where they offer some commentary on Gilgamesh and other areas of the upcoming PSP title. We'll get to the Gilgamesh details in a separate story, but here's what Nomura had to say about the future of the series and some other pressing issues.
For frequent readers, we already provided a second hand report on the interview from earlier in the day based off a summary. The following report is based directly on having seen the magazine for ourselves.
Dengeki asked Nomura what's next for the Dissidia series. "There is no next," replied Nomura. "We're thinking about ending this pattern of Dissidia here. There also won't be a UT [Universal Tuning, the name for the international re-release of the original Dissidia] version. The overseas version is being released at nearly the same time and has the same tuning, so we're not thinking about a release [of a UT version]. For KHII, I said 'there are no plans at present,' but it looks like this was taken to mean 'it won't be released.' When it won't be released, I'll clearly say that it won't be released. For this title, there will be no UT version."
The Dissidia series may not necessarily be over, though. Said Nomura, "For the Dissidia series, there's the possibility of it appearing in another form. However, we feel that we've done all we can with the battle base. We had the staff work for years on one on one battles, so I'd like to let them do another genre. I feel we've done all we can with this pattern of Dissidia. However, it is exciting to see past characters revived in 3D. So, if given the chance, we'd like to do something as Dissidia. however, I don't think it will be this Dissidia."
Dengeki asked about possible developments for the series on Sony's new NGP system. "Kitase (fellow producer Yoshinori Kitase) was at the announcement press conference," said Nomura. "When NGP was in development, I was able to give my opinion and ideas many times." Pressed about possible plans for the system, Nomura said, "I can't talk about that yet."
On a completely separate note from Dissidia, but somewhat related to NGP, Dengeki asked about the possibility for a download release for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Replied Nomura, "I'd like to do something about this, but it's difficult for a reason that I can't say. However, I want to make sure there's no misunderstanding -- it's not a problem with Square Enix, Disney or Utada (Utada Hikaru, performer of the game's theme song). It's a completely different issue. I'll continue thinking about a way to make it possible, but it still requires time."
Hell yes, Prishe looks fucking awesome. Also looks like she has absolutely no reliance on chase mode, win/win. Skillchains don't look how I imagined they would though, way too fast animations but I guess that doesn't matter.
wish the gilgamesh player didn't suck so much
Prishe vs CoD is the best video among the bunch, she looks awesome. Yuna speaks way too much for my taste but has an interesting battle style and Gilgamesh making funny/cartoonish sounds when using his attacks is a nice touch.
Loving the way Prishe looks so far, definitely can't wait to play as her.
Not really sure why they'd use that but I approve.
Holy shit Prishe is as rockin' as I hoped for even with the super fast SC and not so flashy Ex Burst. Aurora Dropkick (the white dashing HP one I assume) was so fast and long range that it's a good trick in case they were blocking you from your assaults. Wish she had landed Asuran Fists to see it ._. unless it was that part at the start of the ex burst before the button commands. Was the finishing move Holy? Was awesome to see that transition of being into her monk skills while calming in that white magic use.
Gilgamesh looked like a hilarious troll he should be fun to watch and play. Should've been human controlled to see it better instead of A.I. Bartz's new moves are so much better than most of what he has now.
The whole Assist into HP move is pretty broken lol even did hp assist into another hp in one of the videos.
Yuna looks spammy range style and talkative but the summon aspect was cool considering my main was SMN in XI. If only our SMNs worked that way too for Astral Flow like in the Ex Burst.
Can't... wait... Prishe...
Edit: nm it was Banishga from what little JP I can read
It can be quite bad - Cloud can Omnislash v5 > Tifa assist when they first touch the floor, press x to warp up to them and Omnislash v5 again. Thank god you can't chain another assist to that.
Prishe looks so fun to play as, I didn't see any ranged magic though, unless they are all just HP attacks and no brave attacks. Dissapointed in the Gilgamesh video... didn't even land Ex Burst and spent most of the fight running up walls.
Some of the alt forms are very nice - still think it's awesome that Ultimecia gets Edea
Yeah, all of Prishe's spells are HP attacks. Her brave attacks are all the Monk WS bar Asuran Fists, which is a HP attack too if the move lists pulled from the game are accurate.
Yuna's Ifrit/Shiva/Valefor voice-spam is going to get old very fast.
At one point in the video she did a move that looked like Dragon Kick and energy waves shot out from it. I didn't recognize it because at the top of the screen showed the name like it was a HP move (she missed it though).
Edit: nm that was CoD's move on the top of the screen
I'm not familiar with PSP games with DLC on CFW and since Dissidia 012 is going to have plenty of it, how is this going to work? Will I have to download a new cracked rom whenever new DLC is added?
Aww, I was hoping for John Dimaggio to be voicing Gilgamesh again. I know they are from different games, but I can dream. =(
