Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy

I know XIII's game play is a series of tubes but is the story worth a single play through.

Dissidia doesn't exactly do justice to character personalities.

Lightning's Army of One is an insanely good Brave attack. does so much damage.

Yeah... characterization is somehow worse in Dissidia games than it is in the Tales of the World games (for that series, of course). That said, Lightning (and the entire FFXIII cast aside from Sazh) isn't that good in the first place so it's not like they are 'ruining' much in this case.

You can't from what I'm reading, or at least, not yet. With the alternate costumes that don't originally come with the game, when playing against someone, they don't actually see that costume, only you do, since it's not actually in the game, it's an external add on.

Aren't the only costumes available ATM from getting that one KH on the PSP?

EDIT: Just looked up on the wiki, outside of Cecil's for the FF4 collection none of them really wow me.

I got to admit, Vaan is pretty fun. I think I might actually use him over Squall.

Vaan is probably my favorite of the newcomers but I haven't unlocked Prishe or Gilgamesh... pretty sure I'm not going to like Gilgamesh simply due to the randomness.

Though I'd still say an mmo item is still way different than not playing a game just because you don't get an alternate costume in a fighting game.

I have to agree with this. It does suck when Excalipoor comes out and your BRV combo only does 3-5 damage total, but that's about the only annoying random effect.

I've gotten used to being close for my melee BRV/HP attacks, so randomly getting a long range attack with the spears or a short range one with the axes doesn't really matter. Sword Dance and Hurricane have short ranges to begin with too, so I just assume I'll have to be close to land them. If the spears come out, then great.

Electrocute/Wind Sear/Missile/Rocket Punch are ranged and they are not changed by the weapon as far as I know.

Yeah the weapons don't affect HP attacks but man do I love the Chicken Knife sound.
