Yeah, I've had AI try and block on me several times when I was only charging attacks on Tifa.
Yeah, I've had AI try and block on me several times when I was only charging attacks on Tifa.
Nah, late 000 story and level 9 AI rarely fall for that shit. Of course they still fuck up on occasion, but they do that for any character with any move, it's nothing to do with feint.
Agreed. They pretty much have the same range but that's it. Tifa hits much harder than Prishe does though, at least that's what I'm noticing. Prishe also doesn't seem to have any real ranged attacks while Tifa's ice spells are like a staple to her game (Blizzaga especially). As for Tifa, Sephiroth assist has been working out great for me (picked him up in the Labyrinth as an assist and haven't looked back). Blizzaga => Waterkick => Somersault => Sephiroth Assist => Moonsault Kick => Chase is an amazingly powerful combo that's surprisingly easy to land. You can substitute Waterkick with Meteor Strike instead and it will still work if your opponent isn't very good at dodging (the timing is pretty strict to dodge Blizzaga => Meteor Strike).
Yeah, Prishe's ranged attacks are absolute ass, especially if you're actually playing with accessories and shit on where you'd focus on boosting physical damage more than magic. Tifa's on the other hand are Godly even without gearing for magic at all. It helps that the AI has absolutely no fucking clue how to dodge her magic too, you can pretty much infinite them with Blizzaga over and over in the corner since they always try and dodge the initial hit and then get raped by the actual blast.
Exactly. You can pretty much just throw out Blizzaga anytime your feet hit the floor repeatedly and it connects, proceed to take off a good 1/3rd to 1/2th their health if you have an assist charged. Only AI I don't use this against is Ex-Death cause I learned the hard way that he can counter it and hit you for a ton of HP.
Also, what's the deal with Bartz? I know he lost some moves from what people have told me but he's the only character from the first game that when carried over started at level 1. Does that mean he's just an entirely new character? Man, glad I didn't level him to 100 like I wanted to if that's the case (I went with Cloud of Darkness, only cause of my love for Laura Bailey, instead).
Squall's more ground now since he can't utilize Heel Crush as well as he could in Dissidia since you can't cancel out of it now. Thunder Barret and assists like Jecht help his HP a lot though.
No... my Bartz was level 17 at the end of the original Dissidia, and when I used him he had quite a few moves. Some got removed and changed though. But if you had a high level Bartz I think you may only be semi-screwed, since a few original attacks remained. Couldn't tell you what happens if you mastered them all though.
But to answer your question, properly lol, Bartz retains his levels.
He retains his level, but most of his attacks are new, and so they are not mastered and have full AP costs. Also, what's the deal with Bartz? I know he lost some moves from what people have told me but he's the only character from the first game that when carried over started at level 1. Does that mean he's just an entirely new character?
This isn't different for any character that obtained new moves, however - if the move is new, it comes unmastered and costs full AP to equip. It's just a bigger "problem" for Bartz since they changed his movepool quite a bit.
How far along gearwise would you advise is good for starting the 000 story? I am currently working through the original story again and building up the Labyrinth, however right now I haven't one piece of equipment past level 30.
If you want to cheese the Rules, gear is irrelevant aside from Force to Courage accessory (Pearl Necklace and boosters help as well, but again, this is pretty much exploiting rules).
Otherwise... you might want to grind up a lot of gear. The first 'story' dungeon of 00 goes up to level 80-ish. I haven't entered the dungeon after it yet, but I assume its harder (and original rules are disabled in there). What I generally did to gear up was fiddle with the Bonus Day till I got Drop Rate/Battlegen+ and purchased the drop/battlegen bonuses in the PP catalog, then spammed level 100's with Energy Ray to get drops and synth components (rule exploiting helps for farming, especially tougher AI's).
Certain characters will have certain pieces of armor to snatch for synth materials, at certain levels. For example, Gabranth almost always has at least 3-4 pieces of Diamond gear on at level 79 minimum difficulty. At 55, he has lots of Gold gear on. etc. etc. Still looking for other patterns to use.
Thief Gloves and Thief's Cap might help as well; buying the Gauntlet>Battle Gloves line may unlock Thief Gloves, but I don't have them open just yet. If you have Beret available, you can start working towards unlocking Thief Hat though. It goes Beret>Dark Hat>Thief's Cap.
Edit: max-difficulty Zidane level 75 has Thief Gloves to break apart for components or maybe get a lucky drop on.
As for Prishe, I tend to abuse the crap out of Aerial backhand blow for its Guard Crush, since opponents love to block and it has some wicked speed. I like using Jecht as her assist, but Kuja works really well too as usual. I tend to catch them with Banishga more than with uppercut or fists, but then again I tend to play air games too much.
Did you not play with accessories or something? Terra was retarded with an EX build.
Yeah, chances are you're looking at tierlists which are NO ITEMS EVER. Some characters like Terra and Cloud are worthless without them, but with them they can get retarded builds.
Yeah I was going to say, that was the original tier list from GameFaqs. Most of the "online" tournaments that the community held, Kefka or Terra usually swept it up if I recall. And Cloud is only lower without the right setup. Some builds have him basically waiting for you to mess up once so he can Climhazzard => DC => Slash Blow => OmniV5 for tons of damage.
And while we're on the subject, I'd like to take that one step further and say the Arcade Mode version of those characters are even more garbage (Cloud and Terra that is).
Also depends on the stage. Fighting Terra in an open stage like Cosmos' Throne is not the same as fighting her in Pandaemonium.
http://dissidiaforums.com/showthread...idia-Tier-List That's an actual tier list with tournament results to back it up, Terra ripped shit up in the first one, equipment or none. Yes Tsu, Kefka did do well in many tournaments, but it was only by a single user, he was an anomaly to the game.
I always played as Zidane or Shantotto, though Terra was my first one to 100 and the one I unlocked a majority of stuff with. I didn't know or care how good she actually was, it was more of nostalgic sentimentality (same with Shantotto).
I think I branched out to try Golbez and Kefka, with mixed results.
Edit: List of all Mog Shops in 00 Story was just stickied on Gamefaqs board, should be quite useful.

Just tried Iai Strike build for the first time in the northeast gateway ("The Forsaken Lands"), holy lulz. 99.9% chance -all the time- with the boosters I have on.
Final KP tally for The Forsaken Lands: 53952.
