Not really. So far there's only one instrument that's been posted that will actually reduce inventory, and that space will be filled, apparently, with a ballad HARP. Not a flute, a harp. Just what I wanted: more issues with people getting the wrong songs. SE's way of saying WHY AREN'T YOU PLAYING COR, ASSHOLE.

The double song instruments would have been a lot more useful if they paired songs that actually get used together (ie, March+Minuet). I'm essentially jut going to be upgrading the 5 horns I already carry around. (Though now I don't have to buy a Mazurka instrument like I was planning.)

The completed g'horn trials (when they come out) had better be world-shakingly awesome...

How's this against HQ / maigan staves now, assuming maigan don't get more upgrades?

It depends on the BLM's gear but for most it will be a little worse than magian and a lot better than HQ staff, just on stats alone. If it's a mob you're able to melee and keep up aftermath on though, this new Laevateinn probably would pull ahead easily.
