Hey just a quick 101, once I get the rar file, I just pass the files to where, so that the POL moves them or put them directly where?

I had to extract to desktop then copy/merge all the folders into the FFXI directory, extracting directly into the FFXI directory didn't work the same way it used to with custom UI packages from emiko.

Left me with 376 files to download which is still going to take 2.5 hours at current speed.

When you extracted or copied files/folders did it actually ask if you want to replace old files?

Same, extracted to my FFXI directory and it's putting me exactly where I left off.

For someone technologically inept like myself, please explain.

When I extract the files from zip, it contains ROM folders. When I try to send any given ROM folder to FFXI directory, it asks whether I want to replace it or not. I've looked inside the patch folders and some sub folders are are missing. For example: The FFXI directory contains ROM folder 0 thru 258 sub folders which contain dat files. Now in patch ROM folder, sub folders such as 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, etc are missing.

So my question is; if I move the ROM folder from patch directory to FFXI directory and "Replace" when it asks me to do so, will I lose any files in FFXI directory that are already in those folder/subfolder present or will it simply replace existing dat files w/o affecting any files that are not part of the patch bunch?

It wont replace one with the other, it simply asks that because the files/folders in the patched package contain the same names as in the FFXI folder.

So everytime you've posted direct links to updates in the past, they've always worked. But I recall there only being the "ROM" folder in there, not ROM1-5 and sound folders? Anyway, I kept my old folders in a different directory just in case these didn't work. I extraded the ROM1-5 and sound folders into the FFXI directory, and then I got on POL, went to FFXI and it version checked, and I downloaded 9 files. The update completed, and then it said "Now Installing FFXI" and then it said something along the lines of "CD-ROM not working". What's this about?

Extracted, got no overwrite prompt the first time, try to launch, starts update download over, getting to D: patch.txt error over and over

This happened last update too

Worked completely fine for me, but I never tried to download the patch normally. All I can think of that I did differently :/

Worked for me, too bad I spent time backing up all of those dat files first >.>;;; had to download 11 files including patch.txt
