I'm wanting to take down Yaanei but don't really know what to expect, or what job combo to bring to low man him. Can anybody give me some info on him?
Killed it last week with 6 + 3 dualbox. (One being a THF that mostly concentrated on curing /w his dualbox.) I'm sure it could done /w less. Had DRK/SAM + SAM/NIN for melee (Neither of us had Eve or HP Atma), and a BLM to add in some damage. Only noteworthy thing I remember was a Bane tp move which is that dumb curse which can't be removed by cursna and makes cures do nothing. Need to use sacrifice for that. Took us about 15 minutes /w the SAM dying at one point during the fight. One of the harder fights, but nothing too tough as long as you have competent mages.
Didn't see much information on the NM maahes other than his pop item, so apologies if any of this is duplicated:
Maahes
-Spawned by trading a Coeurl Round to ??? @ (J-9)
-Drops Vallus grip (Unsure if it drops any seals as this was the only drop in 4 kills, 2 with TH4)
-Uses magic Thunder IV, V, Thundaga III, IV (can also heal itself with spells)
-Uses TP moves blaster, petrify breath, charged whisker, and blink of peril
-Upon pop, will use a random magic or tp ability (including blink of peril, so pop facing away from ???)
-Charged whisker appears to be hate reset on its current target
-Undispellable enthunder and shock spikes
-Susceptible to slow, bio, poison and very susceptible to paralyze
-Not sure if based on each pop or hp%, but one pop had the NM doing charged whisker whenever magic was casted on it, but wasn't seen on other pops
-Duoed with 2 rdm/nin in ~20min back tanking it on opposite sides of the NM at its pop location, nuking it down and keeping the other alive when they were para'd or petrified
-Solo with 1 rdm/nin took it down to 31% before blaster > Thundaga IV killed me
-Doesn't appear to aggro when I reraised afterwards and depopped when it reached the ??? nearby
It would be cool if people could start posting info on when they saw Yaanei up. I've checked for it several times but haven't seen it yet.
If you see the NM it would be helpful to know what time and day it was and perhaps the status of the areas pulse martello etc.
Lowman (4-6 ppl) strat for Tunga? Other than zerging using fool's drinks.
I haven't seen much information about Smok at all. Can anyone give me a run down of what to expect on him and what setup I should strive for?
Think Timmy except it doesn't fly and is much softer.
Has double attack, firaga4, flare(always -gaed), and fire5(always instant cast?). Susceptible to slow/elegy, very easy to tank. The only concern with him is that if you're going with very low numbers, his damage drastically increases as fight drags on(comparable to ovni's PDT, i'm not stupid enough to confuse it with rage). During a fight with RDM SAM BRD(with one SAM death early on costing time), it was meleeing for >1k and nuking for >3k near the end(with shell and PDT/MDT sets) as opposed to 300 melee and 800ish nukes at the start. If you're going to go <6, make sure you keep fight duration in mind. Tebbad Wing resets hate.
Don't take this as it being a particularly difficult fight, just keep fight length in mind if trying to lowman. It's certainly doable by RDM BRD DD if careful.
WTB low man strategy for sandworm!!!
we got like 3-4 people all with support dual box job
I wasn't sure if people were aware or not, but Smok drops Cybele pants.
If you're gonna kite that long, may as well kite it all the way to Bastion area, and use the big rock people use to solo Skele and Antlion around. There are 2 points there that allow you to get off tier 4 and 5s every time you lap around.
For sure, but I hate crowds! Just wanted to show another viable spot.. killed Giant there too but didn't get video ; ;
