Pull it towards the old area where you start climbing up the mountain.
Mages climb up 2-3 stories while a tank/dd below.
Height difference is a joke -_-

I also notice that he does a terrible job pathing around the circumference of the mountain. With infinite time and infinite patience, you could doubtlessly DoT him to death just running a circle. He agroed me while I was questing and never managed to land a spell or take a swing at me just because he paths so poorly and I was running the path to hit all the lookouts quickly.
I would really avoid meleeing Amun at all costs tbh. It's not a hard mage duo and melee can make the fight potentially 4times as long than it should take w/ just nukes
Edit: As a clarification on vincento's post, Amun's -ga spells actually do hit pretty hard (200-300ish with a NQ mdt set and ShellIv w/ a fresh SS). You can eat them if you have to but they're not very hard to out run.
mnk/nin, whm/whatever, rdm/drk, thf/nin
Just a normal counter-tank fight. Addle rapes his casting time so -ga's are easy enough to stun, and the rest is manageable with two healers. Thf was only used for sac pull, collaborator and TA. Fight with the mages up on the shelf by 08. If either gets too high on the hate list, just flux and come back.
Took about 15 minutes. I suspect a ninja could have done it faster and safer, but really wasn't a big deal.
I wouldn't use more than one DD though, since Catharsis spam is the only real issue with this fight.
Nice, thank you
Not sure I should tell Bergi this... he'll be there for weeks!I also notice that he does a terrible job pathing around the circumference of the mountain. I think it's been mentioned, but has anyone ever fought Amun to a point where he just stops spamming Catharsis, and uses nothing but Petro Eyes? The other night we tried to lowman him with DRK/SAM, SAM/THF, WHM, RDM, and BLM -- our BLM ended up being off somewhere else the entire fight, so the SAM and I just took it down with continuous Cata + Gekko skillchains. We're not sure what really happened, though. We only ever meleed it enough to get 100% TP and SC, and turned when we were in excess.
The scorpion's TP moves have a pattern/gimmick. It has three TP modes, Breaths, AoE, and Scissors. The trick is to just stop TP in Scissors mode til it goes back to TPing. As for Amun I've never seen it stop using Catharsis, and I've fought it for long periods of time.
I've fought Amun and seen it not use Carthasis at all.
Fought amun today as mnk tanking and it only used carthasis once. Beats doing that retarded doomed NM which never seems to drop anything at a decent rate with TH4 (4 mnk seal out of 20+ kills).
Our Amun last night used Petro Eyes once as his only TP move.
Also, Rehn you can have all the stupid Monk seals you want. We must have gotten 12 monk seals last night between Amun and the Doomed.
On Pallid percy: will it deaggro if I /heal out of detection range for too long? Does it have abnormally far casting range?
If you go out of casting range it will draw in anything close (it's not zonewide, party members at murexes didn't get drawn in) and hit you all with bind/slow/25tic rasp/mdt+ debuff move.
It will deaggro if you move out of detection range for too long (had this happen the other day after getting grellow !!, sucked). Its draw-in move is a TP move, so if it doesn't have TP it won't just randomly use it, regardless of your range. Granted, I've never run halfway across the zone while fighting it, that may change things; but I have had everyone in party at 30ish away after running away from spells and it doesn't just automatically draw-in.
Maybe it was just unlucky timing, it was drawing me in every time I recast avatar.
That is odd. Every draw-in I've seen in dozens of kills has been right after a spell or attack landed, which would indicate that it's a TP move. Could be wrong though. Maybe it has regain? >_>
Draw in is a TP move in connection to Mud Slide, theres nothing else to it...it has nothing to do with aggro, range, if your dick is out etc etc etc...its just a TP move.
Not that it matters since it can be stunned.
Mostly true, but like most mobs, if it has TP and you are out of range, it will try to use that TP with valid TP moves. IE, a Yovra out of range spams boost (JoL), if you go kite a crab and feed it TP, it will never use Big Scissors, etc. If you are perpetually out of range of Percy, it will have no option for it's TP other than Mud Slide. If you are out of range of melee, but still in range of Tremors, it will use that TP move as well. So ya, the Draw-In is part of Mud Slide, but if you are out of range, you are in fact forcing Mud Slide (if you melee tank it, it can use mud slide still normally, but has more options to choose from, so will use it less).
Yeah, what failure said. So if you're soloing or just using magic to kill stand at like 9'8. The magic it uses isn't terribly dangerous and I really can't see any half decent mages having trouble keeping hps high.
