Abyssea - Misareaux Discussion

Popped and killed Amhuluk (Amphitere (sp?) type mob), using Beak, Wing, and Bat Fur KIs.

Decent amount of HP, casted all wind spells (Ga4, tornado, silencega, graviga).

Had full dispel move (didn't dispel cruor buffs) called Calamitous Wing, a move that did AOE and silence, and a knockback/AOE move.

Easily popped -> pulled down the ledge next to it's spawn and fought using height difference.

Builds resistance to stun, but his moves weren't too deadly (had 2 aegis tanks, but melee wouldnt be a problem if you keep them alive. It silences alot though so melee tanks may be a bit squishy. Suggest Pld down ledge with rangers/smns/whatever.

Dropped Rapidox Sax (Sexxy dagger), and 2 upgrade items: Coin/Jewel of Balance.

Atma of the Strangeling wind. A few stat boosts, nothing impressive.

Popped Orobon Quest Boss a few times:

Procking grellow !! caused triple Jewel Drops, so looks like AF3+2 may be easier to upgrade than we thought. Finished my AF3+2 pants in one night pretty easily.

Popped Sobek a few times as well:

Typical buggard, casts a few spells -really- slowly. Has a move called Tyrrant Tusk, conal death move. Stun that move and the fight is a joke. Drops are already known for this mob. (Card/Stone/Katana/Polearm).

Atma was shitty AGI +, crit hit +.

Tried to finish our last ??? pop set (cluster soul and ironclad KI), but the ironclad KI is being stingy off the detector NM.

Not seeing any other ??? in the zone, so unless it will pop later, I think these pop NMs work on different tiers than the previous Abyssea zones.

Instead of "Free spawned NMs" + T2 pops + zone quest boss lvl mobs that combine to form a final zone boss, there seems to just be 3 sets:

Free spawned NMs.

Popped NMs.

KI NMs - 4 total, 2-3 KI pops each, nothing too challenging.

Not sure if a zone boss type will pop here soon, kinda hope so.

It also appears that you can't complete any KI set simply by exping. We've had 4 solid EXP sessions in this zone and gotten about 20 each of the KIs we have... But each one requires 1 popped or free spawn NM KI to complete. Orobon quest boss is the easiest, as you just need the frog KI and it only takes 2 pops. Bat fur is pretty damn easy as well. Annoying one is the bugard NM, as you have to farm pops -> pop -> hope for KI, but even he isn't terrible. Kinda glad they split up the KIs so farming isn't all mindless exping.

Well that was......interesting to say the least. I got my remaining 5 seals in about an hr and a half. I shit you not, the Frigate birds were so pissed off, they were harder than the NM (other than the silence aura effect and higher HP).

Does anyone know if Flame Skimmer and Abyssic Cluster move at over 12%?

I aggroed him while doing a Resistance OP and was able to outrun him fairly easily with just Hermes equipped.

The Apkallu NM is kind of annoying btw. I want to say DRG legs dropped from it? I actually don't remember what seals it dropped, but I'm pretty certain it did. Killed the Courier Carrie about 4 times w/ no seals, just atma and Ebuillient Cape.

Also wondering about this mob. Im guessing the pop item comes from regular raptors. Can anyone give any info on the NM itself? I saw the info about it spamming breaths, but does it have any notable double/triple attack rate? Is it lowman-able with a melee/nin tank?

T-rex sized raptor, off rare pop item (not too bad drop rate).

Hard to low man as it has high movement speed like all raptors and has stupid breathe damage that has ridiculous range..

It dropped SMN and BLM when we did it, according to my notes (written down at 4am so I can't be completely confident).

The theory I have atm is that higher tiered + multi pop NMs seem to not drop seals anymore.

I found that I could duo them easily on MNK with a form of silence/stun and backup healing. Sub NIN required and counterstance boots help greatly. In one farming run I got 4 spicule's which was with me and a THF (TH4). Another run I did with me and a RDM and got 0 spicule's yet killed more escarp. Each time we went in with ~100minutes.

So far in my expierience I would say its not worth it if you do not have TH4. There are other people claiming 25% drop but I believe its more of a 5% drop rate. If that.
