I would like to know how exactly you play that gear set into the fight? I have no issues with carrying MDT/PDT sets, but I see only one problem with fighting something in that and trying to keep up the damage on the enemy. What you saying sounds like you are willing to forego the damage output to benefit from damage reduction taken. Am I missing something? From personal experience the only jobs I ever used these sets for are PLD, NIN and RDM. I'm genuinely interested to know how people use these sets on jobs like WAR, SAM, MNK, DRK, etc.

P.S. Apologies if this is offtopic

^ You swing in MDT/PDT gear? LOL

Am I being whoooshed here, or this clown haven't heard of Oshit macro.

All jobs should have those sets -_- Not just those 3 you mentioned.

Yours are exactly the type of replies that make a good chunk of BG discussions annoying to read. It's perfectly understandable to have your need for e-glory filled by acting superior on internet, but perhaps you should read what I wrote again and try again.

Klaatu, hes saying that you play as normal in your gear sets but if you pull hate, you have an "Oshit" Macro that will equip PDT or MDT when needed. On Sam Its actually pretty standard to have a full ohsit macro usually consisting of Arhats Gear, askar ect for PDT, Warrior aswell depending on other jobs you have leveled can have Valhalla, or Grim body Darksteel gear ect to stick on until the tank gets hate back.

In situations where DD's are tanking they should also be /nin so your set is only needed for when shadows are down.

WAR, SAM, MNK, DRK, [Insert job here], etc. can and often do play the same role as RDM, PLD, and NIN of the past. Why put an extra strain on your support (not to mention your hate) by eating a full damage spell or melee round, when you can cut it down significantly by swapping to a PDT/MDT set for 2-3 seconds? >_>

If you are soloing/tanking something, yes, PDT/MDT/EVA set is beneficial. Almost any job is capable of tanking even nasty things, provided correct approach/support.
Thing is, if you're fighting something requiring a dedicated PDT/MDT set, I'd personally full time it on swings, hell, even on spells. Constantly switching between PDT/meele sets takes your attention from other things happening around you, unless of course, all you do is swing/WS. PDT/MDT are best for NMs that spam AoE going through shadows. In that case, you full time them and gain hate by other means than meele swings.
Now, go tank Turul and play your 'Oh-shit macro' game, we'll see how far you'll go.
Strange thing is, it is you who makes me smile

Thanks Tribe. I'm in the same boat as Villain when it comes to inventory. Would same "rule" apply to ranged jobs? How important are PDT/MDT sets for RNG or COR?

That would be called disengaged tanking idiot. You don't fulltime it, you just idle in it. I would hope you don't cast flash/stun/cure/etc. in full pdt/mdt gear.

I don't think RNG has access to much PDT gear (Idk idc), but it would probably benefit from PDT sets more than any other class. Since ranged attacks are not automatic, you don't necessarily kill yourself when changing to PDT sets and can change back before your next attack. Furthermore, the nature of RNG makes it incredibly susceptible to damage due to the ability to steal hate easily and shitty defenses.

I think the main point here is: Play DRG.

Ive never seen a PDT set on Rng, specially not Cor. Rng really is about the hate line and -emn gear to save your ass. Lots of MDT gear is all jobs however if your going to eat a spell it might be worth having. Cor specially in most group things against hard NM's is very hard to actually pull hate. But same gear for Rng for MDT can probably be used for Cor. Either way* Rng and Cor arnt really jobs you should need to worry about pdt / mdt for.

RNG is so squishy if you take more then a couple swings it doesn't matter how many fingers you have a Dring on. I /sam on RNG. I don't need a MDT set since the only point of being on RNG is to be out of AoE range. And if I do pull hate I seigan/third eye. If the tank can't get a mob off me standing there while I'm wiffing in a staff then there are bigger issues at hand.

RNG is no more squishy than any other job. It really depends on what you do, but both COR and RNG should have PDT sets. COR needs a PDT set for merit-esque parties, crowd control.. whenever you have the potential to take a lot of damage, really. RNG shouldn't have to be explained, if you're already talking about taking hate on higher tier NMs. PDT sets are even better for jobs that are so-called 'squishy', whether you like it or not. RNG can also use Terra's Staff if taking a lot of damage, without any huge penalty.

Any job that ever finds themselves being cast on or eating larger magical AoE damage moves should carry a MDT set.

Some of the same moves as the T2 Tauri. Unavoidable Apoc gaze, dispelling cruor buffs with its lethal clips. It's not that fun if you don't have enough people spamming cursna after you run out of holy water. Not sure if it has the petrify gaze, but I remember having dia on me at some portion of the fight so it might.

Wiki discussion seems to contradict itself on Iktomi. Previous accounts say you can kite him around the open area near spawn, others say you can't gain distance on him at all anymore and he may have been updated. Anyone solo/duo'd recently?
