I did it as well (on PLD) and got Ravager's seal: feet. Thankfully I have WAR leveled. >.>
Ya, I think the quest has a random chance at a random seal. My third time doing it I got Ravager's Seal: Feet.
god dammit... i've been running around like crazy to find charis tiara. couldnt find it in any zone then get told to check POL site by ls.

Current Known Issues (Sep. 9)
As of the Sep. 8, 2010 version update, we have confirmed the following issues. Investigation and recovery work is currently underway. We ask for your patience in this matter until this issue is resolved.
[Current Known Issues]
- Charis Tiara, which can be obtained in exchange of cruor, is not present on the list when you attempt to make an exchange with NPC.
*This equipment is designated as one of enhanceable equipments in "Trial of the Magians." Even though this equipment cannot be obtained, items required for "Trial of the Magians" are obtainable.
Some random NM information :
Hanuman (Opo-opo NM) casts Air based spells (Aeroga, Silencega, Graviga), seems to have nothing super special about him. Drops papers for sch feet and brd feet. Drops whm stone hammer.
Hrosshvalur (Pugil NM) is really annoying, spams a ranged magic base attack with a knockback. Casts near instant Waterjas, has Recoil Dive, and something is really fucked up with hate (not sure when or why people get wiped). Drops paper for bst feet. Drops brd/thf/dnc stone dagger.
Iko-Turso (popped Sea monk NM) casts Waterga4, Waterja, Water5, seems to spam Maelstrom, and something randomly and quite often silenced our "tanks". Spells were slow. Drops paper for mnk feet and Caecus grip (dark magic+3). Also drops key item Glossy Sea Monk Sucker, presumably for a higher tier NM.
Wasn't in there for very long (like ~50min to kill opo twice, pugil once, farm a sea monk pop and kill it once) and just had a 6man group, so stuff seems no harder to me than previous abyssea zones (we had pld/nin, sam/nin, brd2box, sch, whm, blm).
Iko-Turso Definitely seemed to have a silence aura at certain points. At first we thought it was when it was casting, but then our Blm pulled hate, it walked near me on the way to the blm, and i was silenced. Might be at certain %s or after cretain TP moves. Will pay closer attention next time.
Just did The Boxwatcher's Behest twice, once with the heaviest, and once with the lightest, first yielded a Savant:Feet, second (Lightest) yielded Ravager:Feet.
Just got 2 Caller's:Feet <.<!
2/8!
Now where the Feet come from!??!
More NM information:
So we popped and fought Bukhis just now (Scythes for hands!). He pops where the campaign tower is in the past with a Gargoille something, Taurus something, and Vampyr something. Fight is a huge bitch, hardest NM in my personal opinion in abyssea yet (though it's entirely possible we're missing something or it should just have been kited).
-Apocalyptic Ray, conal doom, turning doesn't avoid.
-Lithic Ray - petrify.
-4-gas, T5s, Paralyga, Silencega, Bindga.
-Builds stun immunity (and to other spells too it seems).
-Lethal Triclip: 3 shadows, mass dispel if it hits. It currently dispels cruor buffs (+HP, etc) but does not dispel Atma. No idea if this is a bug or not, but it sucks having tanks suddenly lose their +40% hp.
-Ruinous Scythe: Hits for ~1800, shadows should lower # of hits, but it's more than 3. 1-shot our Aegis tank once on a high roll when used right after an aga with 0 shadows (after he finally lost cruor buffs around 20%).
-Something cursed a tank down to 15 max hp, no earthly idea what did it even, and it only happened once...
-slow, but seemed to have a lot of HP. Prolly better to kite, but it seemed to have a good bit of hp
No screenshots 'cause apparently windower has no idea where to save screenshots and I can't even find em searching for the file name.
Drops: Petrify GK, 2xBukhis Wing, Stone of Voyage, Card of Voyage.
So, outside of the fight being a huge bitch straight tanked, you're looking at 6 kills to complete 2 pieces of AF3+2 (assuming we didn't get super lucky and it's actually 0-2). I have no idea about other groups, but it seems like most didn't kill much more than ~20 combined of Briarius, Carabosse, Kukulkan, Glavoid, Chloris in 3 months, which is what this guy is equivalent to, which would be ~6-7 piece of AF+3. Seems like this shit isn't going to be flowing in as fast as people are saying, unless there's an easier way to get this shit.
Bastok Residential area, Jeuno Residential area and I forget the 3rd one for where Windower puts Screenshots. It's hella weird
I'm now hoping to finish at least 1 piece before next abyssea comes out! I mean, I obviously could finish more if I had no sense of right or wrong and just took it all myself...but ya...
oh thanks, screenshot if anyone wanted it:

So what exactly prevents you from upgrading these pieces fast? I haven't set foot beyond the initial NPC at any of the new zones, so most of this information is foreign.
what's the stats on the GK if you dont mind?
8th post on data mining thread.

thanks !
(for one piece of AF)
to go from base to +1, you need 6 seals of one type (read: they are specific to one job and one slot). these seals have an apparent max of 2 drop slots, and are drawn from a pool of 2-3 seals per NM. these NMs are low-tier timed spawns and forced spawns (i.e. Khalamari or Gancanagh).
to go from +1 to +2, you need 6 trinkets of one type (there's 12 kinds: coin/stone/card/jewel of vision/balance/voyage; 5 different pieces of AF use each trinket). these are dropped apparently in the same manner as the seals for +1, but the NMs are the equivalents of Glavoid, Kukulkan, etc. from last patch. For reference, those Bukhis Wings are items for the trial to get a Lv.85 Empyrean weapon.
You can also get the basic seals from quests btw. (Repeatable quests!)
Nice, you get to work on your Empyrean weapon and AF3 at same time.
How brilliant!
the quests aren't guaranteed to reward you with a seal in the first place and even if they do, which job it's for is random.
