AhemCoPAhem (twice) etc etc, whatever, less work for me. I don't care if it's tough or hard, as Mojo said.

It's just a fucking level cap quest, go moan about something else from this upda- oh wait.

I honestly can't think of anything that sucked this update, anyone else? Yeah that's right, SE is actually doing an awesome job for once and what do you guys do? You still find something to whine about and call SE retards. The same people who just handed you exp on a silver golden gilt platter of awesome, with AF3 of pure 1337 that can actually be soloed and DOESN'T require an alliance of 18 people to work for 5 hours to get, SE did everything right this update and you people just can't handle the fact that SE didn't fuck up so you're nitpicking.

And believe it or not, SE still has the patience to give the snot nosed brats their cookie and pat them on the head, even after giving them everything else already.

I'll thank SE on everyone's behalf. Thank you Square Enix for putting out what could be one of your best updates since meripos. Keep up the good work, and don't mind the people who whine so much, they just haven't gotten used to the fact yet that you guys are doing a genuinely good job.
That's a hard statement to argue with, mostly due to the fact that it is a nonsensical jumble of words that doesn't really have a concrete point. I guess I'll try to respond... though it's probably pointless. First of all, my personal complaint had nothing to do with CoP. It had nothing to do with AF3. It had nothing to do with the update, or Abyssea. It had to do with a poorly designed quest, with no other purpose in it's design other than to take an unnecessary and unfulfilling amount of time, that SE knew each person that still plays the game would have to go through to increase their level cap. Hence my "hoop jump" analogy. The drop rates were not only ungodly bad, but rediculously random to the point that you could get 0 seals in 3 hours, and then get 3 seals in 15 minutes. It pissed me off, I was indeed quite mad, and have since gotten over it. It is also my belief that the very fact that SE changed the drop rates is indicative of their passive acknowledgment that the quest was poorly designed. That's about it! Have a good one, I realized after inviting the opportunity that I have better things to do than attempt to communicate with you, and am now going to go to sleep.

Old CoP Missions = a challenge, the only beef I ever had was the level-capped zones because it required an entirely new set of gear. Had Level Sync been in the game since day 1, the stigma CoP carries would not exist. Through Level Sync, they greatly increased the accessibility of CoP Missions--and then they outright removed the penalty. Oh, yeah, and all those sporadic adjustments to difficulty helped too.

Comparing something they took years to nerf to stupidity to them upping the drop rate of a high demand item used by every player for a quest you must do to progress? wat. The problem with Kindred Crests was that it was a brand new item, with a ridiculous set of drop rules and rates, that was complicated by the fact that every single player 75+ was seeking them out. This is far and away from the issues people brought with CoP. People didn't complain about the trek to Delkfutt's Tower to start CoP.

This, CoP took years, and years, to wind down to nothing, and that was only because of the level cap increase coming up and allowing you to finish it if you hadn't.

Those crests had such a low drop rate, it took me eleven hours in Abyssea to get three, that's ridiculous, it's not some big landmark mission that requires time, it was just a drop rate, that was made really, really annoying because it shares drops with two other things, and everyone needs five.

It was the only complaint I had heard about this update, this is how MMOs work, the company creates content, players interpret it, play it, judge it. Then, complain to the company to refine it to a point where everyone agrees, or the majority consider it acceptable. This update was great, I don't think anyone debates that, but they messed up on one thing, everyone agreed, and now it's fixed as far as I've heard, haven't been on today.

Crests were never hard. I got 15 in about 90 min, using 3 characters to alternate killshots in seperate parties.. people complain to complain. Yes, I'd prefer a level cap quest with content, but they're adding enough reusable content that it's better they work on that. Had 2 jobs per char at 85 6 hours after update went live, whiners will always whine.

Hadn't noticed a big drop increase when I logged my mule in to start his crest farming yesterday (was farming before and after maintenance). Don't really care though since I'm levelling my main's subjobs via FoV book exp while farming his crests now the rush has died down - and I guessed SE would adjust drop rates after the bulk of the playerbase had got through to 85 anyway because that's normally how it goes.

Quest WAS annoying though - poor guy in LS took three days of working at it every evening to get his, sometimes the SE random number generator just hates people (usually me when I'm casting lots), and sometimes people get completely ridiculously flukey.

I'd quite like a limit break along the lines of the boreal mobs when it first came out again for the next one to be honest - taking allies out to twonk NMs was actually really really fun and I met some awesome people doing that stuff. Just a mass alliance twonkathon would be a fun quest to do, no retarded competition, no handing it on a plate like G6 was, no nicking my flipping merit points!

Congratulations, you got lucky as fuck. Bravo?

The way it was set up to start was retarded.

However, the drop rate in abyssea was good enough that there really was no need to change it. Just most of us didn't realize that until we'd spent endless hours getting jack shit.

    And that's who's fault, exactly?

    Oh, right- yours.

The system wasn't retarded, players were.

    A. I was giving them some credit for that.

    B. The drop rate was *NOT* good enough to be reasonable if you went out at first when every single person needed them.

Except the Genkai presented itself as simply obtaining 5 Kindred's Crests which if you logged in with no prior knowledge you expected to be like 5 Kindred Seals. Easy.

That's not how it went. Nowhere did SE state that they suggest you party up for them because the drop was jackshit without 3 parties at your back. The quest requested 5 of what were to be easy to obtain items (akin to Kindred Seals) and fucked up royally. If they wanted to force party play for the seals the quest should have said so in the first place. The system was retarded.

The only other thing these seals are useful for is to finish WoE weapon, there was no reason for such shitty drop rates on a genkai item. Theres a reason SE adjusted rates on the G1 items and made G2 NMs easier and its called forward progression.

You might wanna scroll back to G6 and G4, oh whats that?

Kindred seals, wait, aren't those items that also have slow ass drop rates under pretty much the same terms?

Wait actually, hold on, kindred crests don't have the 5 minute limit seals do? Whats that, they're EASIER to get? Well herp-da-derp captain retard, G6 is actually HARDER than G7, and the only reason you tards are whining about it is because you didn't have 200 kindred crests the day the update came about so you could just trade them in and be done with it.

I had a few friends who had been trading in all their kindred seals to the npc, and they had to go out and farm 5 seals to go G6. I was one of them, though luckily I already had 3/5 by coincidence when the update came about.

Pre-easy mode crests and seals didn't seem any tougher to get, some people had luck, some got shitty rates.

But in 2 weeks everyones going to have like 30-50 kindred crests and you're all going to realize what a pack of morons you are.

Also, anyone who mistakes kindred crests for seals is just stupid. Rule #1 of any RPG, lern2read.

SE very rarely ever tells us to team up to do something. It's just implied and logical to know that more people get stuff accomplished faster than solo. It goes for everything.

...That is dumb, we've been collecting those for years, this is about the fact that it's a new item with similar rules, with everyone in the game trying to get them.

I think I figured it out.

With about 95% accuracy I can say that the QQ'ers are the 1's who experienced the shitty luck in obtaining the crests, it's also kinda asinine to have to party in Abyssea just to obtain them just so you can break limit and come back and reset lights, etc.

The 1's who obtained them easy are not the QQ'ers and they base their own good luck as the norm and tell others(primarily the QQ'ers) to stfu and deal with it.

Congratulations if you obtained 5 crests in a very timely manner and 2 85 job's before everybody else, want a cookie?

Not to be an arse as I agree with everything you've said, but you can get back your KS and BS from the npc, also lolCrests.

    My inventory thanks you :D

However my point still holds, if everyone didnt have a huge pile of KS on the G6 update, they would've been QQing then too about having to go farm 5 KS. Im averaging a crest an hour or so, and 5 hours to do a Genkai doesn't seem too overhard. Some people had hard luck and are whining and blaming SE, while others got it in half an hour and are loling at the QQers. I don't see anything wrong with the quest, its no different from G6 and we didn't have a 14 page thread of people balling their heads off about it. Once again, because they actually have to work at this one this time.

Stop whining people and just go do some fucking magian trials or form an abyssea party, It's just not that fucking hard. Period.

Took me about 3 1/2 hours on my main (I'll freely admit I have anti-TH as some kind of hidden trait though) and I didn't see a soul when I was out farming them because it was the first thing I did when I logged in while other people were doing BLU spell learning and running around in Abyssea. Not QQing about the drop rate, not ZOMG it's awesomeing - I anticipated it being crappy - anyone who's played this for long enough knew it wasn't going to be bam bam bam - done. Figured they'd readjust it at some point so held back till the rush had died down on el-elfo and I'll abuse FoV for subs while doing his as and when I can be arsed.

If they crank the drop rate on them too high, with no much else to use them for - everyone's gonna complain about that when they clog up inventory.

At least it's not Ancient FUCKING Papyrus which I remain convinced Maat just wanted for toilet roll.

I'd have swapped the current limit break quest for some of the older ones in a heartbeat. My own experience of some of the older Limit Break quests left me banging my head off a wall at times.

When I did Limit Break 1 I had to do it over 2 days to get the three items, the drop from the skellies being the most time consuming, I spent the best part of 5-6 hours on the 2nd day killing those skellies with a few friends before it eventually dropped. I had to rely on people to help me out with the quest. THAT was a pain in the ass.

When I did Limit Break 3 I spent hours running around getting the crests. The Yagudo crest took me ages to get because I had to bring people along with me to light the torches. I died a number of times trying to do this limit break and the only thing that kept me going was my higher level friends urging me on to keep going. I had to rely on people to help me with the quest. THAT was a pain in the ass.

When I did Limit Break 5 it took me hours and hours of killing mobs to finally get my testimony to drop. When I eventually got to fighting Maat I ran out of time. I had to go back and get another testimony. Which took hours and hours of killing mobs again. Although I didn't have to rely on people as much to help me with this quest it did take a looooooong time to finally get past it. THAT was a pain in the ass.

    Then....

When I did the current Limit Break I went to Valley of Sorrows, accepted a "Page 3" from the Fields of Valor book and got myself a load of free limit points while soloing the mobs without breaking a sweat. I had 5/5 seals in about 4-5 hours plus pretty much a free limit point in the process. THAT was NOT a pain in the ass. Not when you compare it the experience I had with previous Limit Break quests.

People seem to forget about how much of a pain some of the previous Limit Break quests were in comparison. QQ'ing about a quest where the drops aren't just laid out in front of you is nothing new. If it were a 100% drop rate we'd all be laughing about how easy it is and how there's no challenge anymore. Like the last Limit Break....
