And SE would actually do that rather than give us a completely new piece because...?
Christfuck @ the +2 upgrade requirements. I mean yeah I guess they'll be easier in the future but that's still one hell of a timesink. The more they do this the more inclined I am to just trim down my job list and focus on 2-3 jobs.
to my surprise, quiet a bit of it can be full timed, provided you don't have to switch into any mdt or pdt-% gear, they are pretty solid sets, but for the jobs I play, BRD, SAM, NIN, RDM a lot of the piece just became full time pieces, with the acception of situational pieces (SAM head for TP, RDM set is well.. its RDM, NIN is pretty solid, and BRD, Head became a spell cast macro piece, legs because sexy for buffs and ballad, and feet are good to run in and debuff)
. . . .full time "unless" is already a stupid statement, but w/e. . . .
Sam legs are the only maybe fulltime piece, but still worse than existing gear for WS...also unless you're dropping to a 5hit with em (and there isn't a better option) or enhances Hasso is really good - they aren't even a good TP piece.
Rdm I can't believe you're even suggesting fulltime. Hat obviously doesn't have refresh, cure potency, fastcast/haste. Boots don't have refresh, int, mab, curepotency. Legs don't have runspeed or haste or mnd or curepotency.
Nin...Legs are a good TP piece, pretty terrible WS piece. Other 2 I can see I guess, but I wouldn't expect it to last.
Brd I don't even want to look up stats or think about, esp because I hardly gearswap on my bard mule anyway, but the legs listed are shitty for stoneskin, curing, erasing, hasting, refreshing, pretty much anything you do besides march/ballad/elegy/lullaby/finale. Inb4 "bards do more than that?".
You're usually wrong when you suggest full-time gear.
Shen is usually wrong about everything.
I intend to, but I can only harness so much in the way of time, manpower, and (critically) skill in my LS and obviously everyone's gunning for +2 items. The fewer pieces I seek to fully upgrade (which I'd want to do for any job I take seriously enough to take to 99), the sooner I can stop worrying about this shit. If Failure's post is an accurate assessment of that Tauri NM's difficulty, that's pretty important because I don't know how many of these we'll be killing or when it'll happen.
I have all 6 Seal's for the headpeice upgrade... but getting the Magian Moogle to take them is proving to be more difficult then I thought ><;
Edit, to much crown-n-coke, found the box to trade the items to!
Where did you get head seals form?
.
Where are MNK AF3 feet (NQ) coming from?
I've found the head and legs with no issue... not sure where to look for feet.
THF/WAR > THF/NIN for damage now.
At 90, perhaps a different story.
Well, as I mentioned, the fight may be significantly easier kited, but when we pop an NM for the first time, we generally have a mix of stuff (at least 1 pld, a couple DD/nin tanks, support, rng, blm). Our goal is more to figure out what works than to kill it as fast as possible from the start (though that generally becomes obvious after a few). If we set up expecting to kite, I -think- we would have had less issues, but who knows. Also, it still may be a bug that lethal triclip was dispelling cruor buffs; in the end, that's what fucked us and killed our tank (losing the cruor HP buff, then getting caught once with less shadows/getting an unlucky roll on damage/etc). It wasn't like the move killed him a ton, it used it a ton and didn't kill him until 20% or something.
But ya, rather than this being like the last abyssea expansion, it seems like getting AF3+2 needs to be a more long term goal (best analogy that was presented to me was nobody expected/actually was completing a full salvage set for at least a year).
Gold chests in new abyssea zones supposedly, haven't seen one myself yet though.
Af3+2 shouldn't be a hard, or long term goal. Remember, this is all level 81-85 gear. Don't want to need to fully replace it come December. If anything, add another set of trials for AF3+4, which would set the gear at lvl 99. People weren't completing salvage gear for a year mostly because they couldn't enter the zone often enough. Most were still at a low rank and could only farm the original 2000 points needed every 2-3 days. Now it's a daily event.
Failure, with a kited strategy, how many people do you think you could use and win? Also any suggestions on which kind of DD would be best?
Well this is just the AF of the new level expansions. Under the old SE, AF and Relic is considered good for its level. Obviously, you retain certain pieces, but much later, you find incentives to obtain better sets of gear (Sky/Sea/Salvage). Consequently, it would not surprise me if they made gear that completely outclassed this gear at 99. If they do not, I expect it will be because the better gear is obtained through magian trials.
