Just wondering, do you guys have any plans of releasing an API?

One neat fluffy feature that you could add would be a 3D model view of equipment, if one of you has graphics programming experience. A couple of the Aion database sites did it, and I liked it a lot. For example, click on View in 3D here and you can see the model!
Probably not easily incorporated with what you have so far, but just an idea. Site looks pretty nice! ^^
What type of API are you looking for? We considered some simple data api's via JSON so people could build tools using the Archives as the data source, but weren't really sure how popular it would be.
This might happen one day. The 'NA model viewer' you might have heard about is also from our team, and may one day lead to 3D model previews right on the site, but that project's primary goal is a community tool for doing sigs and machinima videos etc. When that does get released it will be open source, and will eventually be released at ffxivmodelviewer.com; if you see one released anywhere else it's not ours.
I'll post a the teaser we posted in the ffxiv group below. The tech for putting the models together is there, gear specific shaders and animations are hurdles that need overcome before that get's released.

I apologize since my knowledge of how APIs work in the 1st hand isn't all too well. I was thinking of doing some sort of Flash AIR app for it and the closest thing I've done would probably be twitter which google seems to verify it as being JSON.
A majority if city npc's are now marked on the maps, and mini-maps added to the npc detail pages. The team is currently filling in the last of Limsa locations![]()
Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing!
One thing thats been annoying me is, website wise, when clicking on the database tab, and then highlighting the item, craft, ability, etc tabs, the drop down menu pops up, and when going to select a sub category like medicine, the drop down menu closes as my mouse moves from the tab before I can click the sub tab.
You use firefox? I don't have that problem
Also is your database optimised for any browser?
I use the superior IE browser.
I don't have the problem above (using Google Chrome on 64-bit Windows 7). Very nice site by the way, keep up the good work![]()
Been using this site during beta and I love it. Keep up the fine work~
You will certainly get best results on a modern browser like Firefox/Chrome/Safari/Opera. We support IE as much as possible, but unless your rocking the IE9 preview you won't get 'optimal' results. Don't be shy about your problems with IE though, we are tackling them as much as possible and they are normally pretty quick fixes that we can throw into the IE only stylesheets.
Gonna chime in and say that I like this site better than the rest of the ones I've seen so far. Good work!
I am trying to compile a list of faction leves but it seems I can't find an entire list (just the ones from Horn and Hand at YG). Are these planned to be added prior to/shortly after launch? Currently looking to add these as events for mid-game stuff for NI and was just curious![]()
Once we get access to a few more of them in game and can figure out how they are stored, you'll see a complete list up there much like the other leves. I'm hoping withing a few days or so after CE launch![]()
Hi I discovered this on break at work but now that i am home i can't get the site to work. It looked awesome at work and now i want to show it off to my BF. Is the site down? I am using Firefox so i checked on IE and it didn't work there either. I can move around the different tabs but i am not getting a list of items.
I'm getting the same results, so it isn't just you.

Odd, I just had a few people try it and everything seems to be working. Let me know if the issue persists!
Cooleko: It wasn't the main site that was down. None of the recipes were showing up.
Xavia: It works perfectly now.
