I'm giving this more time cuz last night the battles were so fucken retarded. Chariots swarm in, battle ends in under 2 3 minutes. Either something is broken or its retardedly new

I honestly don't see what's the problem. It is extremely short yes, some battle last like 30 sec, but you usually do get 3k exp and about 300 credit in that 30 sec to 1 min. It is not like in campaign where 30 sec will net you like 50 exp. This is meant to be short and extremely rewarding I think, due to the fact that you are still in abyssea and it has a time limit, nothing should take extremely long to do. I got 50k exp and 4.5k credit from bastion last night, was in there for about only 40 mins, and mostly waiting in between battles. Considering the fact that I need 9k credit for my OAT upgrade, 40 mins and I am half way there is something I wouldn't complain about.

I get what your saying Nameless, I'm not complaining about the end result of exp, etc, but to me, it seems like something isn't working properly, it just doesn't seem fun to me (I was a WHM)

Bastion seems to have a significant factor of chaotic luck. Yes, there will be runs where the mobs sweep in, bulldoze over the NPCs, and run off. But there are also a number of runs that will get you a lot of numbers in a little bit of time as well. I'd say if anything, the problem with Bastion is that, unlike campaign, it's not really something that can do done if you're the only one participating. You need at least a handful of upper level jobs to be able to succeed. Personally, I've decided to just use my > 120 time after exp parties to farm credits. The rate varies, but it's better than letting that time go to waste.

Here's a map I made for the Bastion invasion routes in Mis. As you can see there's a shortest route, a middle route, and a longest route.

Coast the new Jugner? Eitherway, this is the best way to get your credits w/o a doubt. Thanks for the map, Gwyn

Or someone willing to spend some credits.

Just did a pratically solo battle. WAR/SAM, got a Fanatics, Held 3 chariots, a couple dolls and a few observers by myself, spamming Full Cleave.

Ended my minute with only the chariots alive around me. Had killed the dolls and observers, and the chariots had made sure there were no players or NPCs alive. But then, ~15k exp, ~1.5k resistance credits. I think it was a nice trade for the 300ish credits i spend on tp wing + fanatics.

Any idea if bastion resets your lights? I'm guessing one of the cores has an impact on af3 feet droprate so it would be nice if you could improve the droprate without resetting lights... (had a party the 2nd night of abyssea with quite a bit of af3 feet dropping and every party since then has had lots of gold chests but not much af3 feet if any). I also wonder what the bare minimum conflux warps will cost with long term successful bastions (conflux prices varied through a range of about 30 cruor per warp while doing the cookbook quest).

So, something I noticed yesterday while doing Bastion on smn. Just before the monsters arrived I'd do Hastega with Garuda, which affected NPCs just like in Campaign. During the actual fight itself I kept receiving exp for mobs killed even though I wasn't attacking them. So has anyone else noticed that if you buff players or NPCs you get exp/credits/cruor for their kills?

I went in as MNK/NIN the other day and was getting exp and credits for other peoples' kills. Not sure if it was all other kills, but I didn't get any killshots or anything.

I don't mean for killshots, I mean for mobs I hadn't even engaged (e.g.I use Garuda's Hastega before mobs arrive. They arrive, I go fight a Chariot, NPCs go fight Gears, the Gears die and I get exp). Whenever I'd done Bastion previously I'd only got exp when a mob I'd fought directly died.

Same thing happened to me. While I don't have extensive experience, I can say that while I was engaged on one mob I was getting exp/credits from other mobs when they died. I had not performed any actions on that mob or been engaged on it or helped any PCs/NPCs that were fighting it. Not sure if that's how they intended it to work, though. Might it have something to do with current Pulse Martello status?

Appears that you just have to get a small amount of enmity on 1 mob to get xp for every mob killed. Dia wasn't enough, but paralyze was. I think if you don't continue to generate enmity that the xp/mob will drop significantly.

I was horde sleeping the incoming mobs at a bottleneck in Vunk, and noticed that I'd get 800+/kill in the first minute or so, but if I didn't do anything else it would drop to about 80/kill.

The quests definitely help. Not sure but I think:
Ward = stronger martello/more frequent attacks
    Desert = stronger npc's?
Crimson = stronger traps/staggered enemy attacks?

Went as BLU85 yesterday. Was getting 1200-1300/kill on mobs I was spamming spells on, ~800/kill on stuff I'm certain I never even touched. ~8500 exp total, lasted about ~2 minutes. 7 sets of exp in my log

GF was RDM/NIN, she was only getting about 800-1k/kill, ~4500 exp total. Not exactly sure what she was doing (I assume nuking, as she wasn't curing me...) 5 sets of exp in her log

    edit: typo

Every time I do Crimson Carpet I seem to do as well as you possibly can, but I still don't get the best resulting messages. For example, for having to fill from 4.0 distance while standing at 4.0 I get the "substantial" amount filled message, and then the

I have tried standing one more .1 distance forward and backward from the required distance in case it was off, but it was the same. Anyone know if there's a way to get a perfect evaluation from this?

I've gotten the hefty 90% of the time and I play on ps3 which means I eyeball judge the distance. I'm guessing windower distance does not equal what the game considers a yalm. Eyeball it until you get a good feeling of what a yalm is and go from there.

How can I tell when the next bastion is going to happen? I don't really understand the whole concept of it...

Talk to the NPCs and they will tell you the %. People doing bastion ops might increase those % quickly. That´s it basically. The whole "schedule" in Bastion sucks.

This system is pretty horrible. Everyone rushes to the Martello when tags become available, almost no one intercepts.

Entered as SCH+DNC, thinking if we intercept the mobs with sleepga at the traps, we could hold them together. Not so. Once they wake up, they continue rushing the Martello and the raping begins. I've had reasonably good luck sleeping/gravitying as 81 SCH (my enfeeble set is above average). With Atma of the Heavens (+4 damage magian staves), I was able to take out the detectors with 3 tier4s and 1 tier3. My DNC partner switched to BLM when it became obvious he wasn't getting anything that way.

If you get a wave without mobs that are immune to sleep, 2 people can pretty much hold them and sleep nuke them until they're dead. Since they don't retaliate when you're far away from the Martello, there's no need to buff with stoneskin or worry about curing after a convert. Even if the chariots get by you, it buys a lot of time for the people at the Martello.
