That may be and probably is inaccurate. Kismet abyssites allow you to occasionally get max tier chests before being capped.

Nice. Any idea if this works the same with the roaming avatars in each zone? Just speculating, because it would give them an actual purpose (other than Pavan). And they are also glowy/shiny/ephemeral (in that they die quickly)/etc.

Just a quick note/question. Yes, in my experience, Ephemeral mobs give much more light than regular mobs. But there's also some weighting factor that occurs based on the size of the alliance. It almost makes sense to think of mobs as having light as a value (not given to us), and that value is divided by the number of people in the alliance when it is awarded after a kill. The evidence I have for this is that if you do any low-man farming, you'll notice that you cap your lights MUCH quicker than in an 18-man XP alliance. For instance if we say a monster has "50 azure light points", you would get 50/18 ~ 2.78 light points from the kill, versus 50 points straight up if you killed the monster yourself. I suspect the level of the monster has some factor on how much light it gives as well, which makes farming an IT kill solo fairly difficult.

Speaking of level, the level of the mob that repops is a direct result of the number of people in the alliance that kills it. If you have one person, the mob will pop as "decent challenge" to the highest level of the person in the party. This is even if you have a despawn. I'm curious what would happen if a level 75 person were to aggro and despawn a whole bunch of mobs, would they come back as "Easy Prey" as seen by a level 85? Anyway, my experience is at 85:

1 person in alliance: Respawn as DC
4 people in alliance: Respawn as T
5 people in alliance: Respawn as VT

I would also propose the following thinking for what the abyssites do. I had the experience last night of farming mobs for "Soil and Green" in Misaraux. I killed a monster, it died, and left me with a 5-lock blue chest. I killed two monsters afterwards, both with a melee(pearlescent) killshot. The first monster did not leave a chest, however the second did. And this chest was a 6-lock blue chest. I personally have two abyssites of kismet. So I think what happens is that with every kill you get, you get lights based on your abyssites in some static fashion.

tl;dr: I need to spend less time in abyssea.

Not true. Was farming mobs with BRD MNK DNC for a magian trial, note no azure kill. After an hour, I'd knocked off 205 of my kills for trial and gotten 19 ebon lights. TEs and top tier chests did not show up until near the end, if there were a bonus like that I would have seen them far earlier. I have every abyssite.

Question about this: we verified several times lately that this is 100% true, but my question is, does it also apply to the old Abyssea zones as well? I don't have the stones atm to test it.. would be amazing if it was true in those zones also.

The respawn lvls is related to how fast you kill the mob, not the number of people in party. I've been 3boxing my relic trials in abyssea and the mobs repop VT or IT depending on zone (VT to 85 in Tahrongi, IT to 85 in Vunkerl). Also kill speed doesn't effect the repop of that particular mob either. When I first went to do trials in Abyssea, there was an alliance on the bats in tahrongi. I kill one bat solo and kept track of the ID of that bat to see if it would repop as Decent Challenge. It did not. It came back as VT. I went in the next day when nobody was at bats and killed a mob. That time it came back as DC.

From what I can tell, your kill speed will change the lvl of the next mob to repop, not necessarily the one you killed.

The people in alliance : respawn level of mobs rating above is not entirely correct. I went and -aga killed ghosts in an Attohwa tunnel for an hour or two after dinging 85 on my BLM with 3 hours of extra time. They started as DC and were respawning EM-T despite me moving around quite a bit.

I did over 20 hours of 4 person parties this weekend in vunkerl and as long as we stayed with just 4 people our repops never went over T. We could not have killed any faster, and that wouldn't have made a difference. As soon as we added one person to our group putting us at 5 people, our repops turned into VT.

One thing I did notice though: If any other groups are on the same mob group as you they will change your mobs. When an alliance came in and started killing seapuks our repops turned into IT, even though they were not touching the ones we were killing. They weren't even very close to us, but them being there on the same mob in an alliance turned our mobs into IT.

It seems like it's dependent on the amount of people in the largest party killing that mob family.

It's killspeed. Permanent ITs with MNK BRD RDM killing a mob every 15 seconds. Permanent decent challenge with BLM BLM RDM gathering/-gaing whole group at once(similar kills/time, but people are on hate list for an extremely long time comparatively. Same people, same mobs.

    Our party was
    Sam/war
    Blu/nin
    Blu/nin
    Drg/whm

When we added a 5th to our group our repops instantly turned into VT. Our killspeed actually went down because we added a Rdm/whm and one Blu went afk.

I don't think a Mnk, Brd, Rdm trio kills IT faster than sam blu blu drg kills T. There must have been other people on your same mobs.

I was the only person on Tahrongi bats with SAM BRD RDM and the mobs were VT the entire time. When I went to Vunkerl, same scenario and the mobs were IT the entire time. I thought it was party size too so I wasn't going to let a friend afk and leech exp, but the mobs never went below those levels.

    [16:13:23]You obtain 45 Resistance Credits. (Total: 297)

    tl;dr
    triangular flask
    elongated flask
    triangular flask
    oil cloth
elongated flask (in that order) triggered:
    Code:
[16:12:12]ü[16:12:12] The magicked flaxen sack feels a little bit taut.
after that, another triangular flask triggered:
    Code:
[16:12:18]The magicked flaxen sack is showing signs of stretching.
which yielded 300 cruor and 45 RC.

you want to take it to "squeaking under the tension." just fill it with flasks until it shows signs of stretching, then just cloths until you get squeaking.

80% of killspeed is pullspeed. I camp in the middle, man the fuck up, and kill everything.. not to mention I pay attention and don't waste any attack rounds swapping targets.. and probably have twice the gear you do.
