computer lockup with blue and yellow pixel "wings" appearing on screen

Just started today for no reason but the computer would lockup and or moniter would suddenly shut off
if it didn't shut off little blue and yellow things shaped like wings would appear on the screen . I've updated my graphics card but have no clue. Any ideas?

I wanna say, your video card is going bad, but I may be thinking way too extreme.

do what Icari said and start in safe mode, but first get some anti-malware apps like malewarebytes and install them if you can or do it when in safe mode.

I'd do a full system scan with the anti-malware and your antivirus, run CCleaner for safe measure. If that does not resolve the issue, try uninstalling then reinstalling the video card's drivers. If not that open your PC and make sure your video card is properly seated. Take it out and re-seat if that will make you feel comfortable. Also, ensure ALL hardware is properly seated. and all your wires are in the right place. If that STILL doesn't fix the problem, then I have no idea... yet.

Oh and again I may be thinking too far ahead, but it almost sounds as if your motherboard is going bad... but that's just speculation.

Artefacts is 99% of the time related to the graphic card, either from overheat or death.

damn and I've only had it like a year and a half. Whats funny is minecraft was the culprit in setting it off somehow.

well thanks for your advice, the cuplrit was a capaciter/transister cylinder thingy on the graphics card ruptured in half. :X
