    Memory Settings: Bios

Hey guys, got my computer together and things are working out great, however I noticed something strange: (and im a complete bios retard)

When I first booted up my computer, it rated my ram (Corsair dominator 1600 mhz 3x2gb tr3x6g16008d, 8-8-8-24) ram at 1066 mhz, and the timings were set to auto at 11-11-11-29, with a command rate of 1T. I set the memory frequency to 1600MHZ / 2:12, and changed the tCL to 8, the tRCD to 8, the tRP to 8, and the tRAS to 24. I left everything else automatic, as well as the command rate at 1T. Was this the right thing to do?

I can't find any sort of auto-fill in for memory, and the only two options I have under Memory SPD are standard and XMP profile 1. Also I noticed the DIMM voltage is set to 1.7 or 1.72, but i remember the sticker saying ram shouldn't be set above 1.65. please help (I just changed the DIMM voltage to 1.65 too...hopefully i didnt mess anything up but things seem to be running "ok".

I figure I'll get everything running at stock nicely before I attempt overclocking.

assuming you have an i7, if you had reset to defaults it would have fixed your timings, but yes you needed to change the 2:10 to 2:12 to get 1600 at stock (if you change bclk above 133 you will need to drop back down). dont leave DIMM on auto set it to 1.65 Lastly, there is nothing wrong with manually setting your timings to ram recommended.

I have almost the exact same ram, it defaults to 1066 when it boots up for some reason, but I went into BIOS and selected the XMP profile for it and it set everything to what it should be I guess, it boots up 1600 mhz and timings are 7-7-7-20 which is what it was rated at.

I did reset them - it fixed the CPU clock speed and such but didn't change anything with RAM. However, I changed the profile to XMP and it set it to 1600 8-8-8-24, and changed it to 2T so I'm assuming it's fine now. Also the DIMM is set to 1.65v but CPU-Z is showing it running at 1.68 anyway...

    Thanks guys
