The official pre-launch translation. I don't see a link in this thread yet.
    Biggest things i saw were:

    - Hardware mouse
    - There simply wont be an AH system, but some new system god knows how that will work, since they are focusing on the bazaar system
    - Supposed UI and inventory speed improvement and remembering abilites when you change jobs for launch
    - Greatly reducing Guildleve wait and increasing anima recharge

Now, why the hell does this have to be translated? Good info, but never made available to non JP. Fail SE customer relationship

The thing you quoted actually is from the SE translation.

SE did translate all that though? I don't think an AH has been ruled out, or have I missed something?

I think you failed more than SE did in this case.

I don't see how it would work honestly if there was world PVP which I doubt highly. Archer would win most of the time and I imagine it would turn into some pseudo national gankfest with NAs ganking JPs and vice versa. To many tears for this to be possible in a FF title IMO. You claim a NM and someone ganks you, tho it would be funny it would generate enough nerdrage to power a Star wars vs Star trek convention for well over 7 days.

FFXI could have been a lot more as well. I was looking forward to actually going inside of Tavnazia and seeing the Far East.
I really doubt the FFXI devs ever planned on letting us visit the other main continents. Originally, it was all just 4th-wall-ish flavor text (i.e. the vaguely amerindian Bison set was invented by a "tribe of warriors from a land far to the west"). They probably didn't even have names for them originally, and just made them up as they went along.

Kind of like FFXI. Evere played Ballista 30 cap? Rng/nin is absolutely unstoppable. Invisible, barrage, EES, dual wield hawker knives to kill shadows, shadows of your own... ahh the good old days.

I also read that Eorzea is just one of three massive continents in the world. And considering we've only seen half of Eorzea, this game is going to be huge in 6 years time. Probably bigger than current XI
You know what I'd like to see? Rather than make the world bigger, make the world livelier. You remember XII, you're walking down a crowded street, but it's not really because unimportant npc's disappear when you pass near them? I thought that was a cool idea to give life to a world rather than have a few people standing around all day. You could see residents of the land going about their business, but, really, do you really care about some stranger in a mall? No.

To that end things like 'army encounters' in a cutscene need way more people and mobs. I always kinda rofl'd at FFXI for that. It's like "Here comes the mighty San D'orian army division!"(it's 3 copypasta'd elves) and you're supposed to be awed or some shit. That's.... a very small army.

You have to be careful when doing a "very lively world" type of thing in an Online game, especially MMORPG, because it's just that much more data for the players to load..especially in a seamless world.

^ Sadly, this is correct. I'd love to see an EQ2-esque world where random NPCs are doing NPC shit like talking and crafting and mongering whatever little wares they have, but:

    A) This, or at least every version we've played, closely resembles FFXI in the sense that too many people on screen with simply block out all but 20, and
    B) Even if they had more NPCs and a livelier place, they'd simply be standing around. I'd like to see some random NPCs out in the wild fighting ala the Garif Adventurers in FFXII, but some idiots would cry that that's just one more mob they can't grind on because some stupid fluff NPC is in the way.

This game is looking like its catering more to the non-fluff crowd, so you won't see anything that would take away from the barebone essentials like "getting whatever I wanted to get done, done".

Edit: Priran, I have no idea. SE is notorious for using the legendary "FAR EAST!!" cop-out to describe just about everything that could be construed as remotely Asian, but I could have sworn that at some point, some dev was talking about wanting to plan an expansion around heading out there. But yeah, I'll never hold my breath on SE taking us anywhere FAR away from the mainlands. That's far too much new terrain they have to code and design, especially if its somewhere like some blizzard winterland or something.

I made a character from Limsa today, as I haven't really been there much since closed beta, and was excited to see the extra cutscene in the intro that they've slotted in, where they have npcs walking round and chatting and stuff.

And then of course when I could actually control my character, they were all gone and everything was dull and static.

Even something like in FFXIII where the NPCs would say stuff when you got near them would add to the impression of a livelier world. I can't say I remember a single NPC who isn't rooted to the spot unless they're in a cutscene (or Sisipu on the escort quest). I know quest-giving NPCs have to be *relatively* static, but I can't see a problem with having them wander round an area.

I'm so tired of people being rooted to the floor. Can't we get past that in terms of game design? Nothing seems to MOVE in FFXIV and that bugs me probably more than it should. We have these incredible visuals, but almost zero life to any of them.

It is kinda like when I emote something. I have a few seconds of awesome animation, and then it reverts back to just standing there woodenly. Are there even any idle animations? I can't say I even noticed.

Another example, in the boat scene from Limsa. All the NPCs are chatting and talking, some are leaning on the railings, others are walking about. Soon as you've stood up, half of them have disappeared, and everyone else is either sat straight-backed on a chair or standing stock still.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I would like to see battleground-style PvP in the game. It'd never be as good as other games that have designs around pvp, but it is a fun thing to do on the side when you're bored. Even EQ2 added them in about a year ago.

Current ferry from LL to Ul'dah needs more Sea Horror imo. And everything does feel pretty dull at the moment, especially camps. WOW this camp in the middle of nowhere surrounded by beasts! But there are only 2 NPCs there...

How long does it take the ferry from Ul'dah to LL ? I only got on it once and i think the trip ended too fast for a ship,, + its like a dead area, i wanted to fish i thought I'd find a NPC inside that sells rods and stuff but... meh..

Also i'm not liking how i'm lvl 13 and i have around 80k, kind of making me worried about the game economy in the future..

Yeah the boat trip really needs improving, but when airships are in the game who is going to ride it anyway? It's not like XI where it was a convenient way of getting from Windurst to Valkurm and back which was faster than getting airships or chocobos.

Priorities, dude. There are bigger things to fix than idle animation.

Compared to beta 2 & 3 quest rewards and NPC prices, gil seems to be 10x its original value in open beta. I do not mind the bigger numbers, as long as they are consistent.

Just divide your wealth by 10 for that empty wallet FFXI feeling.

The problem with movement in a game like FFXI and FFXIV, where there is no determining who is a quest giver and who is not, and due to the fact that just about every NPC can, at some point, be a quest-giver for someone on some quest. Someone would complain that the NPC they need to turn in the final piece of YYY item for XXX quest is down the street instead of standing by the water, like the online guide said they would be.

If nothing else, I'd like to see NPCs moving around and being alive during instances. Its the one place where players are restricted to a small area, so there's a lot more freedom to have NPCs doing a lot more than standing around in various poses.

The others are right, though: NPCs can move around in a game that comes out of the gate with a high level of polish. There simply are too many other issues to deal with right now. It'd be nice to see NPCs moving about in future expansions, once things have settled down.
