so i'm wondering: has anyone been able to run this at max resolution with full shadows, AA, etc. and everything at max frames? i basically can't play smoothly unless i turn a bunch of stuff off and i thought my pc was more than ready.

i'm kinda hoping they are planning on further optimization but that seems like a pipe dream.

Hardly Sli Crossfire setup and your good, resolution plays the biggest roll.

I get like the same FPS on high as I do on low almost (not really but the difference is almost negligible), so I don't even know what my issue is. But it runs at least.

Well, my OB is now officially over.

My new FFXIV rig just fucking died, located the problem to be the motherboard most likely.

But seriously, now, NOW? There's like 1 week til the CE start and I have quite bad experiences with times that it takes for the shops to send the new shit.

Whines aside, this might be the situation where the "OMG CANCELLING MY CE ORDER" -statement would actually make sense.

Less than 1080P should be able to run 60fps on most current gen hardware in cfx. However you have to overclock no stock video cards so i guess that's a stipulation but then again the game isn't even that optimized on the cards that paid to be better so give it a couple months.

You're better off canceling CE and just getting standard for the goggles lol. I sorta feel your pain. I made my new rig up a few weeks ago and it turns out my 480 card was bad. EVGA dragged their feet with the RMA approval(Think I filed it on a Wednesday/Thursday, and they didn't approve it until Wednesday the next week), UPS said the card would arrive end day TODAY, and I have 3 day shipping on the card back to me. Looks like I'll be playing with my 9800 card. My heatsink is also screwed up. Reseated it twice and still getting high temps for my i7 930(70C under 100% load, 45-50C idle). Going to try to reseat it once more, then swapping to the stock heatsink to see if that'll help. i7 930, 12G ddr3, nvidia 480, 60G SSD: been sitting here two weeks and still haven't gotten to play with it. Not to mention I have the coolermaster haf 930 or w/e the thing is called, so the case takes up half my room.

My ATI 5850 handles the game on max, no problems.

It's really not THAT crazy of a game to run. On a scale of 1 to Crysis, 14 is about a 7.5

wait is that @ stock or Oc'ed
i have an i7 930 oc'ed to 3.6 and its idle @ 47. But i live in texas and its like 98 outside and 80 in here <_< and the chances you ever put your PC under a "full load" without the assistance of a benchmark is like fuckin 1/1000

What's with the primary and secondary weapons for classes like botanist? Is it just more stats?

You can harvest bushes and grasses with a hatchet?

Oh right. So if I only want to cut wood I don't need to bother getting scythes? Can't imagine items gained from grass are very useful right now other than shards.

Changing elemental points is annoying if you've put them all in one stat. I've got about 80 points in lightning and it's only giving back 7 each time.

Nope, stock. I OC'd to 4.0, 3.8, 3.6, but it all ran near 80C under load, and idled high 50s to 60s. Put it back at stock and still 45-50 idle. A friend told me all cpus aren't the same, and some may run hotter than others, but I did a little research and from what I've read, most people run 35-40idle MAX, and under 50C on load stock.

After trouble shooting for a few days what was wrong with the rig(turned out to be my 480), I really didn't wanna play around anymore for a while with it. Such a pain in the ass pulling shit apart. Not to mention that using the coolermaster hyper 212 plus, you need to pull the motherboard off the case to get the bracket on there. I wired tied everything up so it was all pretty, so I'm just lacking motivation to get it done. I'll probably get around to it this weekend since XIV launches next week.

Also noticed that the coolermaster heatsink sits not JUST on the cpu, but the metal frame around it(the one that locks it down). So that might be the problem, however if it were I'd probably have seen a lot more posts about it. The contact point between the heatsink and the cpu is just too big it seems, not sure if I need to tighten it down some more or not... it's already on there VERY tight.

Each gathering class has a secondary gathering ability Fishing:Spearfishing Botany:Harvesting Mining:Quarrying. It has no mini-game and your success is only chance based on your skill and the grade of the spot you picked. It yields no EXP, and very small amounts of skill. It's just very easy and quick to do for a little bit of skill. Not to mention, it will yield items that you can't normally fish/log/mine. For example, fishing gathers fish, kelps, and corals while Spearfishing gathers worms, insects, amphibians, small fish, etc.

You need a secondary tool to take part in any of those things... however, the Gathering/Output/Perception stats on any given tool will not help the activity tied to the other tool. Your gig's stats will not help your fishing and your fishing rod's stats will not help your spearfishing. Just to be clear. Other equipment's stats are applied to both, just not tools since you can essentially only use one at a time.

I'm at Lv.21 and every one of my points is in water. It gives me back 14 per Reassignment.

80c is super high however it's an Intel chip so I cant say much other than that would fry AMD chips.

    Thanks, that makes sense.
Logged a few trees, didn't get any logs but got plenty "crap". I guess the items you get are based on the grade of the tree.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I've gotten logs off of tier 1 trees. I have been trying to test to see if there's a certain spot on the tree (on the notch selection) that yields more logs/branches/feathers/etc. But everything seems completely random so far. It could be it's disabled atm though so people won't figure this stuff out before release. (otherwise, why have that option in the first place?)
