Closed beta was better must be some load or client issue because I crashed one time during beta 3.

They give you more durability and more quality to work with at the beginning of a synth so you can HQ easier or make it less likely to fail a synth. But yeah with how many items you can get from various gathering classes... the inventory even at 80 spaces is not adequate because of these XD.
I'm not so sure on Durability, but Quality for sure. I used 4x Tin Ore and 1x Tin Ore+1 to try a nugget synth and started with around 25 Quality. I don't recall the Durability being higher than normal. For me, that already fluctuates a lot, anywhere from 100-115 with all NQ ingredients.
High quality items are drastically more awesome for doing whatever you're doing with them. If you were a Carpenter, you would have a boner every time you got a +1/2/3 log/etc.
HQ ingredients can begin with more durability... It's definitely not static though, it varies pretty wildly.
Interesting. HQ logs are certainly rare.
Anyone fancy telling me where grade 2 trees are? Guessing Emerald Moss area?
Yeah, for Gridania, it's going to be:
Grade-1: Bentbranch
Grade-2: Emerald Moss
Grade-3: Tranquil Paths
Ul'dah is:
Grade-1: Black Brush
Grade-2: Drybone
Grade-3: Horizon's Edge
And Limsa Lominsa is:
Grade-1: Bearded Rock
Grade-2: Skull Valley
Grade-3: Bloodshore
I'm almost certain this applies to all Disciples of the Land.
Same places as the next leve tiers I guess. I didn't realise you'd even be able to log in Ul'dah area. Probably still stay in Gridania at retail because all the guilds I need are there.
so other ppl are crashing when closing map too good i thought it was just me so it most be some kind of bug
I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I'm curious..
Considering this is beta, do you think that when the retail version is out that people might have a bit better FPS than in beta with the same settings? I mean is it possible? Right now I'm at 30~ FPS with my GTX 470 and 2.667 CPU speed (no clue how to overclock, I tried but failed miserably) quad core system.. which I guess is decent enough. I'm just curious if retail might have a chance of being better.. I just didn't know if it was possible.
Oddly enough, as someone pointed out to me...
Gridania has no Fishing leves for Rank~30 or ~40.
Limsa Lominsa has no Fishing leves for Rank~20 or ~40.
Ul'dah has no Fishing leves for Rank~20 or ~30.
I'm sure it'll have a similarly stupid spread for Miners/Botanists, dictating where you might have to go once you get past your Rank~10 Botanist leves...
Just keep that in mind. I don't know which zones support which ranks of Botanist leves, but you might consider the zone that has 1/10/20 so you don't have to travel far prematurely. Then again, it might change at launch.
At least in alpha, the formula was:
initial quality = (Sum of all +x items / total number of items) * 100 + N, where NQ is +0 and N is usually 0-15
it's probably not exactly the same but I think it's pretty similar, haven't really tested
but, in the later stages of beta, you fail exponentially more when your quality gets higher, so really if you want to use a +3 item in a level 1 synth, you'd better be level 20+ or you're probably going to fail
During beta alot of commends sent to and from the server go through routine checks and to log any bugs not sure how much those checks effect FPS but at release or soon after they will remove them im guessing
so as far as a change in fps i couldnt say but there will be less input lag mainly in menus and item lists
That's strange. Fishing guild is in Limsa I'm guessing? You'd think that would be the place to be for 1/10/20/30.
For some reason my trees are only letting me log them three times now. I was getting six from grade 1s. Unless it increases as I get closer to the next grade.
Yeah it's possible, you may also want to turnoff AO and Depth Of Field if there on. Possibly lower your settings as well as making sure your buffer rate is set to resolution. Also try http://www.anandtech.com/show/3810/n...vendor-cards/7 and try using this http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm to overclock.
Yeah, you will find you get 1 attempt from points that are way past your rank. (e.g. You will get 1 harvesting attempt at some Grade-5 bushes if you came across them.)
At Rank 20, I'm getting like 10 attempts at Grade-1 points now. It used to be like ~5.
Yeah, it is in Limsa Lominsa. It's retarded. You would think they would either get the consistent 1/10/20 or at least the higher end leves like 1/10/40.
Well, if it doesn't change, I would recommend sticking to the city that your favorite Discipline of the Land has consistent leves for, because you're not really going to need the Mining/Botany/Fishing Guild shops themselves until you earn 5,000 marks. I've been Fishing pretty hard since the Open Beta began, completing every Fishing leve that rewarded marks, and I just now got my 5,000+ marks to buy an ability with. Had no real reason to travel to Limsa Lominsa until now, to be honest.
I dunno how to overclock my CPU, not my GPU lol. I use MSI to overclock, np. I just wish overclocking my BIOS settings was easy. I tried guides and no matter what I did my comp. wouldn't turn on until I restarted it three times.
Also, I have the DoF/AO both off, buffer rate is resolution, etc. Shit just doesn't get over 30 FPS I guess for me, lol. :/
I didn't notice any change in FPS from depth of field...
My MSI bios was pretty simple to overclock. I think I pushed my 4x AMD Phenom II from 3.4 to 3.8... 4.0 was somewhat unstable without removing the side of the case as my pair of overclocked HD5770s are heating the shit out of my tower. It can take a -lot- of trial & error though. You gotta' increase the CPU multiplier as well as the memory clock speed. My bios automatically adjusted voltage appropriately... every time I fucked with the voltage myself, it would not boot properly, but it's something that needs to be taken into account as well.
There was a really nice little guide/explanation for CPU/memory overclocking for those interested but uninformed (like myself).

The techie people will probably snicker.
That's weird? maybe your nvidia control panel is forcing vsync or something and I know nothing about Intel cpus.
