I would think they changed it to be permanent. However, I'm skeptical about the gil rewards due to the fact they left the NPC dialogue to reflect the lower closed beta rewards.
Edit: Going Bandanas is one of my favorite leve titles.
Where are XIV's TGS news?![]()
What about Devilet Inside? No love for oldies? (maybe not so goodies)
Yeah, I got Llymlaen's Ward to activate a few more times... What a fucking joke.
Unless they are somehow boosted significantly at launch, don't waste your Guild Marks.
For those of you that crafted, what would you say is the average range of skill points/XP gain for making an item that is appropriate for (or on par with) your rank? After doing some number tracking I'm guessing it's probably around 220-240 SP and 1000-1150 XP, but I'm wondering if that may be too high.
GAH I really hope one of the changes they do in retail is cutting some of the menu fat. Having to move in and out of sub-submenu's and sub-sub-submenu's is driving me insane, especially with the retainer.
I have some Puerto Rican friends who have an old LS from XI that's planning to go Besaid, so I guess there's some more truths to those lists.
Is Sharp Vision passive? It's set on the Ability bar in the Action's & Traits menu, but I have no idea how to activate it (if it's actually an active ability).
Sharp Vision is indeed a trait. Gathering traits randomly activate when you are gathering. Totally random and last a random amount of attempts before they wear off. I usually see traits' effects last at least 3 gathers or so, sometimes a shitload more though.
I have Nature's Bounty, Veteran's Trade, and Llymlaen's Ward all on at once and I get traits going off pretty often. Usually 5~10 gathers will go without traits between them going off. Which is pretty often for Fishing since you can gather infinitely uninterrupted.
edit: beat'd
I agree. There's way too many confirmations. Buying and selling from shops could be improved too. Not just menu fat, but why can't they show me the stats on an item when I highlight it? Why do I have to click on it? And why can't they tell me what an item can be sold for without having to click through to sell it?
One thing I'd kind of like is batch crafting. If you've got the materials for 20 copper wristlets (I have, and a whole lot more), you should be able to craft them all, either in a single go or back to back (without needing to add ingredients or confirm recipes) provided you have the materials and crystals.
I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if in retail the menus are faster and there's an inv sorting option.
I am curious as to what they want to do to improve the UI, whether that means trimming or overhauling.
yeah, the no auto-sort is something I'm hoping they'll add for retail. I mean, its in FFXI, why wouldn't it be in FFXIV? If it isn't, that will seriously suck. My inventory is way too cluttered, and I hate being forced to bazaar things back and forth to sort it... I mean, I can live without it in beta since it isn't really something critical when playing for, what? 3 weeks? But I would never be able to live without it for, say, 7 years...
Wasn't it in the alpha and taken out? Or am I thinking of something else?
Characters from OB will be erased once retail hits right? lol
Not really sure what you're referring to here. XIV auto-stacks things for me. XI didn't add autostack until like three years ago. Are you talking about having it put things in database order as well? Because I thought a lot of people found that rather...infuriating. It's why a bunch of people still use LightLuggage and keep the SE sort off.
It seems that a number of the simple usability tweaks SE has added after player demands over the years were forgotten about when it came to XIV.
Yea I wish they would just add more tabs or something. At least between gear and ingredients. It's just a pain going through all my gear when I'm just trying to get x1 bone chip. I know some synths(like decorated copper scepter) you actually need a weapon but again, tabs would help a lot with this. Also, this is a stretch, but just a repeat last synth button would be nice, if only to -pick all the materials you just used for you last synth- so you could just hit "main hand", pick your item, and go at it. I've said it before, but they should really consolidate the 'confirm recipe' and the window that shows the shards you need. I'm pretty sure once the UI lag is gone though that we'll be pretty happy. Yea it'll be sloppy work, but at least you won't have a 1-2s wait between picking a material, or clearing materials, etc. Also I just made my character on my retail server, and I really understand the lack of life now on the game. That scene where LL looks so lively only to get off the boat and have a bunch of npc's standing around... Kinda lame. I hope that down the road, for quest purposes or w/e, they make some npcs that at least are on a loop walking around or something. I think when I played WAR the at least had some NPCs walk inside a small area to kinda generate "shit, where'd that guy go... oh there he is". Nothing to really waste your time looking for a lost npc, just to give a little more life to the game, which I know they were trying to make(see 'making of' clip of monsters).
Edit: Curious, with the character creation saving, is that to your PC or to your SE ID?
